Meet Terry
Terry is an adult male Scarlet Macaw who was dropped off at a pet store because of aggression problems. He does not trust easy and it takes a long time for him to come around. He is a plucker and every November he chews his wing feathers then lets them grow back in. He is used to a family environment. He needs a VERY experienced home.
Terry is an adult male Scarlet Macaw that has serious trust issues. Terry is not a safe macaw for a home with children under 12, and he has shown very aggressive behavior with some men. While Terry will be a wonderful bird for the right person, it must be noted that he can also be very dangerous and adopting Terry into a home you must consider every other person who enters the home and he only likes who he likes, while he won't seek out attacking other people or animals, if he is approached, his response can be quite aggressive.
He plucks his feathers every Oct/Nov then lets them grow back. Once you gain his trust he is a lot of fun. He loves to play with toys (his banana is his favorite), he waves hi and bye, and with the right person, loves to cuddle.
The Adoption Process:Fill out our online adoption application which can be found on our website, www.ahelpingwing.org (no phone calls please). A representative from A Helping Wing will be in touch to answer all questions and discuss setting up a first visit. Multiple visits are required before adoption. Although there is no application fee, there is an adoption fee, which covers food, medical care, etc., and allows us to continue our efforts in rescuing, caring for, and finding homes for all of our birds. All birds at AHW have been vetted and have negative tests for any disease before they are made available for adoption!
