Meet Tealk (Teal'c)
Teal'c is named after a Stargate SG-1 television series character. He is around 16 years old and is a very sweet and mild mannered parrot, and gets along very well with everyone in the house hold, men and women and children of all ages. Teal'c has never shown any aggression or bit anyone in his foster home. If healthy the average life span of a Indian Ringneck is around 35 years. Teal'c is very active and loves to be outside of his cage on the playtop and is flighted. He is in love with his image and will spend a lot of time cooing, cat calling and kissing himself in his mirror, and he says pretty bird often. Teal'c has a bit of a foot fetish and will behave the same way with your feet as he does when loving himself in the mirror. Teal'c also loves spending time sitting on a shoulder and will fly to your shoulder often. He likes to eat a wide variety of foods including fresh fruits and some vegetables, and will be a bit demanding at family meal times to be offered a bit of what the family is eating. Once given a taste, he is content. Teal'c has a blue plastic chain hanging from his cage that he will pull on and make a squaking sound when he gets frustrated with being in his cage too long. Once the door is open he is happy again. Mostly he just likes to hang out on top of the cage and fly around a little. He is a very skilled flyer and may try to explore the house... so it's best to keep doors closed to keep him contained in one area. He will step up once comfortable with family members. Teal'c does not chew on furniture or household items which is a good thing. Teal'c really is about as perfect as a bird as one could hope for and should make a great addition to a family that has time to spend with him. He comes with a large cage, plexiglass carrier and toys.
Tealk is currently in quarantine. After three positive tests for PBFD, our avian vet believes Tealk is a carrier, although he is not showing symptoms. At age 16, he has probably carried the virus for a long time, and his immune system is currently coping with it. PBFD is a bird disease and cannot be passed to people or other pets. However, Tealk should be in a one-bird home.
Tealk comes with a large cage, plexiglass carrier and toys. Adoption fee $300. Must be within driving distance of Salt Lake City.
