Suzie Parrot Cockatoo Blairstown, NJ

Suzie is a small female Umbrella Cockatoo. When she first came into the rescue her original owner had smoked and her feathers were yellow and she had mutilated down to the bone on her leg =( After many baths and a few surgeries to close the wound Suzie was a healthy cockatoo. She had been adopted by a good friend and volunteer of AHW and was adored until he passed away in 2020.

Suzie is a bit hormonal at times, we work on foraging and different interactions to help her through this. Hormonal teas have helped some as well. Her diet consists of chop (more veggies than fruit) and Roudybush pellets.

She adores men! Her eyes light up and she flirts when a male walks into the room. She will sit with her man for hours if given the opportunity. Reading time is one of her favorite activities. She likes the softer toys, pine & balsa wood, shredding material as well.

After I receive, we will be in touch to review your information and with any questions we may have. There are multiple visits required to interact with the bird you connect with. Your first visit is what I compare to speed dating, you will meet many wonderful and sweet birds and we see who you connect with, attention is paid for how birds respond, we base our adoptions on the birds input and tell all adopters that when we let the bird choose, it's always a good match! During the visit time frame, we typically perform a home visit as well. The home visit is a great chance to review bringing home a rescue bird, where to setup cages, dangers in the home that many people may not consider, diet, daily routines, etc
