The best way to learn more about our birds is to complete our parrot match application, found under the "Adoption" tab on our website, www.phoenixlanding.org. The nice volunteer who monitors PetFinders inquiries cannot tell you about specific individuals.

We believe she may be up to 42 years old, which means Roxie was possibly wild caught, although she no longer has a band. However, 42 is young for a well-cared for Amazon! Roxie's adopting home for the last 12 years has been a healthy, positive one. But like most long-lived birds, Roxie is ready for her next adventure.

She is a good fresh food eater, and the other half of her diet is Harrison's pellets. Like many Amazons, she loves showers! She could fly, if you could offer her that kind of opportunity, which is the best way for birds to maintain cardiovascular health (and mental health too!).

Also common for her species, she tends to pick a favorite (person or bird). That's ok, it just means anyone else in the family needs to respect that choice and have proper expectations about her personal space and be respectful and steer clear of their personal space. But if they do like you, they light up with animated joy and are fiercely loyal.

Our process: After you complete our online core class (recommended for anyone!) you will be connected with the adoption coordinator for your area. Attending one of our core parrot care classes is also required in order to adopt a parrot. A list of them may be found at https://www.phoenixlanding.org/events.html.
