About Nixon
Nixon is a 32-year-old Moluccan cockatoo with a heart as big as his gorgeous crest. Currently undergoing treatment for blindness in one eye and arthritis in his joints, Nixon is making progress and will be seeking his forever home in the (hopefully near) future.

This snuggly and affectionate bird has a soft spot for male caregivers, but has also been enjoying the company of his foster mom and her daughter. Nixon loves cuddles and thrives on a connection with his people, making him a wonderful companion for the right home.

While Nixon is learning to explore and play during out-of-cage time, he still requires supervision to keep him safe. He’s discovering the joys of toys, dancing, and has shown he’s comfortable around his feathered foster brother—though introductions with any new birds would need to be slow and supervised.

Nixon’s Specialized Care Needs:
Supportive Care: Nixon’s ongoing medical needs include managing his arthritis with an adapted cage setup and pain meds and accommodating his partial blindness. His new caregiver will need to continue his treatments and ensure he remains comfortable.
Supervised Playtime: During out-of-cage time, Nixon requires close monitoring as he continues to explore and gain confidence.
Affection and Attention: Nixon thrives on interaction and will do best in a home where his caregiver can dedicate quality time to him daily.
Bird-Friendly Space: A safe and enriching environment with toys, perches, and opportunities for supervised exploration is essential.

Despite his medical challenges, Nixon’s loving and playful spirit shines through. His arthritis and vision loss don’t stop him from enjoying life to the fullest.
