Meet Maria

Maria is a 35 year old male Yellow-nape Amazon who enjoyed one home until his owner of 33 years passed away leaving no caregiver. He's a very engaging bird, has converted to a pelleted diet. He LOVES his foraging toys and actively destroys soft textured items and soft pine toys. Maria has an extensive vocabulary and sings as well. He steps up well for both adults in his foster home, and also for older children. If you're looking for a silly, fun companion Maria might be a great bird for you. Here's a video of him: https://youtu.be/P_FRTgdNOE8 Please note that Maria is special needs - he was obese for many years (housed in a small cage with unlimited access to a seed only diet). As a result he has early heart disease and requires medication daily for life (which he happily takes on a small bit of bread). He remains very active and repeat testing show that he's medically stable. He'll require regular Avian Veterinary care once or twice a year. His medications are $35-40/month.
