Behavior_4 :
Kiwi can nip at the hands when he is feeling a little testy or frightened. He also has a shrill screech that indicates when he needs more attention or is afraid/angry.
Reason :
We are moving suddenly and cannot bring Kiwi due to the fact that we may be displaced for a month or so. My husband is in the military and we have recently gotten word that we will be moving by the end of August. Placement is needed as soon as possible! :-D
Notes :
Kiwi is still a fairly young bird and is my daughter's pet. They are both very attached to each other. He is wary of newcomers but catches on quickly when he knows he will not be harmed. We do have a dog and although I am unsure if Kiwi is good with dogs, our dog is not good with birds! Therefore, placement in a home that already has dogs that are tolerant of birds would likely be fine. Kiwi is a quick learner and is very food motivated. My daughter would like to see him go to a home where he will receive more attention than she is able to give him with her busy high school schedule. In the photograph provided he has just gone through a molt and has lots of new feathers coming in. Although he looks a little scrappy, once his feathers are in he is a beautiful bird and does not have a plucking issue.
