Chanook Parrot Macaw Tampa, FL

Hello! My name is Chanook and I'm a 6 year old Scarlet Macaw. My foster parents picked me up from my previous home and they have been able to show me so many new things since I have been with them! I had never had anything other than seeds to eat before and now they are introducing me to all kinds of new foods like fresh vegetables, pellets, chop, some fruits, and even some really yummy nuts! I had also never had a bath before, but they are making sure that changes, too - I am not so sure about that part, but they say that I will start to love it really soon. Right now, I do have some trouble stepping up, but my foster parents are going to continue to work with me on that. I also don’t really care for new people, they do scare me, but my foster family is working with me so I can learn to not be so anxious and so I can become used to small changes and adjustments and learn to accept new people more. I do sometimes talk, I can say “Hi”, “Hello”, and “Shapoop”! I am also missing all of my nails except one, but that just makes it so you can pick me out of a crowd ;) I don’t mind other animals in the home, we just ignore each other. Please come meet me very soon and help me learn that humans can be fun and loving and that I can trust them. I hope to meet you very soon!

An avian veterinarian has properly vetted all birds before they are placed up for adoption. Adoption fees include the bird’s cage IF the bird has a cage - most do, but please ask!
