What other pets does your bird get along with? We have owned pet rats and hamsters but have not had cats or dogs. Our teenage (now adult) daughter also holds her alot.
Tell us if your bird has any behavior issues? She does not have any behavior issues. We have been told by the people at CAEM (and Avis' previous vet) that she is the most well behaved green cheeked conure they have ever dealt with.
Why are you needing to rehome your bird? We have to leave the US and cannot take Avis along.
Provide us with any additional information that may help a candidate show interest in your bird. "Avis" is Latin for "bird". She was bred by a commercial breeder in Colorado. Avis has been handled by many adults so she generally warms up to everyone. If, when you first meet her, she is stand-offish you just need to pretend you are not interested in her either (play a bit "hard to get") and she will suddenly want to become your friend! She is affectionate, loves to snuggle, is always interested in whatever food you may have, and is quiet at night. She loves going on outdoor walks on your shoulder (with her wings trimmed) and is most calm and snuggly in the early morning and from around 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Bedtime typically 9:00 pm and wakeup around 7:00 or later. Beware - she attacks pens, pencils and bananas (only if the bananas are peeled - go figure) and will attack you if you are holding her and one of these items at the same time.
