Mandy Goat Nubian Mix Jacksonville, OR

Running loose with no place to call her own, Mandy came to us through law enforcement thanks to the efforts of a caring citizen. Mandy, an approximately 6 year old doe, had been roaming with other goats, all of whom were easily captured, except poor, frightened Mandy. Left on her own she had even more reason to be afraid.

Darting in and out of traffic on a busy road, Mandy was starting to become a safety risk to drivers and herself. Not wanting to put anyone in danger, a concerned community member reached out for help. Once safely contained Mandy was transported to Sanctuary One where she was given a secure stall to relax in.

An only goat is a lonely goat! Goats are herd animals and need other goats in order to thrive. As soon as she was ready, Mandy was introduced to Blinkin, a sweet Boer doe who loves people and other animals. We thought that not only would having a friend make Mandy feel safer, more at home and less fearful, but Blinkin was the perfect goat to introduce her to because of her calm demeanor and fondness of humans.

Blinkin showed Mandy the ropes and the two have become good pals. Blinkin was just the friend that Mandy needed. Staff are continuing to build Mandy's confidence and trust in us with positive interactions and a lot of patience, she has come a long way from when she first arrived. She now happily spends her days in the pasture with Blinkin and all of her other farm friends.

Mandy gets along well with the other goats in the herd now that her confidence has been built and she has learned to trust them. Due to her bonds, we would like for Mandy to be adopted with at least one of our other goats. Blinkin and Mandy are a great pair, and Mandy is also rather fond of Django as well.
