I found Teddi on Petfinder and I knew she was the one for me right when I saw her face. I was determined. I emailed the contact and I showed up at the pet store in Mission Viejo where they bring the cats that they rescued. When I was there I asked them about the dogs that they rescue and they gave me a lady's phone number. I called her and asked to meet Teddi. She told me that Teddi was up in the LA area. So I grabbed my friend and my check book and drove up to get her on Friday April 13th. She was terrified and hide from me the whole time. But I still knew she was for me. So I wrote the check and tried to get her into the car. She couldn't walk on a leash and she froze when we went outside. I had to carry her to the car and place her in the back seat. I stopped off at my parents house for a driving break and when I let her outside to go to the restroom she hide under a bush and wouldn't come out. It was also raining. "What did I get myself into?" I began to think that I was way over my head. I just wanted her to like me. When I got back to San Diego, she still didn't want anything to do with me. If I looked at her she ran away. If I tried to walk her with a leash, she just stared at me with fear in her eyes. Fortunately I had animal training experience and knew that I needed to earn her trust. So I walked around the house and ignored her. She followed me. When I went to take her for a walk, I put the leash on her and I slowly started walking in front of her with the lease behind me. She followed. Now, a year and a half later, she's my best friend. We do everything together. She gives the best hugs and she's my favorite cuddle buddy. I couldn't imagine my life without her. I'm really happy that I never gave up on being her friend, because underneath that scared puppy was the loving companion that ended up rescuing me. Thank you Petfinder for bringing me my angel.
