A guy my husband works with has a Bernese Mountain Dog had a litter of 11 pups. He also works with a lady that is with Dearborn County Friends of Animals. My husband put them together and DCFA got the pups for adoptions. He told me about the litter of 11, and since we already had 3 rescue dogs, I was not really looking to get another, but I had always wanted a large dog. He went to help with the hand off of the pups and came home telling me about how big they were at 10 weeks. Then DCFA posted pics of them on Petfinder, and I fell in love with Fiona, who is now Katie May. It's been a long time since we have had a pup around the house, but it is so enjoyable to watch her convert the other three from stand-offish to playmates. Katie's favorite is Poppy, a rescue from SAAP, who is about half of Katie's size. Katie is a great pup, and we will have fun teaching her things and watching her grow. Even our son, the cat lover, likes her. Next step is introducing Katie to our daughter's 2 rescue dogs. We can't wait for that to happen.
