From Jennifer of Anchorage, AK

My husband, Tom found our "Annie, girl" shortly after moved to Alaska on residing at the Kenai Animal Shelter in Kenai, Alaska which is about 3 hours from where we live in Anchorage. One look at her picture and he was in love. Tom called the shelter in Kenai and told them we wanted Annie. I on the otherhand was cautious. Annie was an older dog and I wondered what was the "story". Did she have a medical condition that the shelter wasn't revealing. I was skeptical, but Tom had said that we were coming that weekend to get her. We drove out to the shelter to get her that weekend. The three hour drive back to Anchorage was trying. Annie gets very excited in the car. She barks incessantly and jumps from the back to the front seat. We quickly discovered the "power of the bone" which has proven to be very effective tool in giving her something to channel all of her excess energy towards while in the car. I remember thinking "Oh, boy, are we in over our head." A year and a half later...Annie is still a little crazy in the car. She has gotten better though, but regardless she has become "girl" and has throughly enriched our lives in so many ways. To this day we both can't imagine why anyone would have given her up. Annie was with one family for the majority of her life. They gave her to another family who only had her for 6 months before giving her to the shelter. The Kenai Animal Shelter is not a "No kill" shelter. Annie had been at the shelter for almost 10 days and was facing being put down if we had not adopted her. Since adopting Annie we have enjoyed exploring the trails in and around Anchorage with Annie. She spends her days in our condo sleeping and after we get get home from work she gets a walk around the mile and half bog behind our condo where we run into a moose on a weekly basis.

Annie has brought so much joy to my husband. Thank you Petfinder!
