Pippin - A Petfinder Happy Tail

When I found my latest puppy on Petfinder I was looking for a fluffy dog. I was raised with a miniature poodle who lived in a puppy cut and I was thinking it would be nice to have another curly dog. I've been living with short-haired dogs for ten years; I thought it was time for a mop with legs. I couldn't have been more wrong.
I write books, and like me, my protagonist loves her animals. At the end of the first mystery, Moonlighting in Vermont, Bree Macgowan becomes auntie to a Chihuahua pup named Beans. In subsequent books she becomes his sole owner. Beans is very much in my heart, but he's not a mop with legs. Silly me.
I was searching Petfinder for puppies and I don't know if you realize but puppies go fast. So I started putting in applications for any likely pup, because it seemed like I was never going to be the one who got to adopt. Then I saw Beans. Well, not really Beans, she was a girl, not a boy, and she was not really a Chihuahua, she was a Yorkie crossed with a Jack Russell. But I couldn't get that little face out of my mind. She was Beans's twin!
I filled out the adoption form and waited. I got kind of antsy. I knew it was unlikely, but it just seemed like we were meant to be. Bree had Beans, surely his twin should be mine? I wasn't feeling very patient, but I was trying to be hopeful. You know the rest. I've named her Pippin and she's grown to be a little bit bigger than Beans, but not much. Mostly her legs are longer, but she's still a pretty small dog. We love her and she loves us. She bosses the bigger dogs around and sleeps in my lap when I'm writing.
It's a mutual love affair, and she isn't a mop but she's got some charming whiskers!
