Teddy - A Petfinder Happy Tail

From Annette of Philadelphia, PA
Teddy was a visually impaired 5 year old Yorkie-poodle mix I found through Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. I actually found BDRA through Petfinder. I began sending Teddy's information by email to my husband. I also applied to be a BDRA volunteer. My application to adopt Teddy was approved right after our home visit was completed. On August 20, 2011, Teddy became a Hanagan! Prior to adopting him, I had talked to his Foster Mom who told me that Teddy was an alpha dog and wanted nothing to do with other animals or young children. The only other pets in our home at the time were 3 Guinea Pigs and my three sons were all teenagers. I thought "Teddy is absolutely meant to be part of our family." And indeed this was true! Teddy adores my three sons who are all thrilled to have him as their "fur brother". Teddy jumps in bed each morning to wake my sons up with kisses. His true love is his collection of tennis balls. Teddy will bark for someone to throw him the ball. Although he is blind (he had his right eye removed this past summer due to glaucoma and has no vision in his left eye) Teddy can usually catch the ball after the first bounce. He will bring the ball to our hope chest, roll it under and then bark to have one of us retrieve it and throw it again. Although Teddy does not do well with people outside our family, he is happiest just hanging out with mom, dad, and his three teenage brothers. Teddy has certainly added so much to our family since we adopted him. I can't imagine life without him!
