Penny, Shyla, Nim an - A Petfinder Happy Tail

After our beloved dog had died due to cancer, our family decided we wanted another pet in our home, but were not ready to commit to another dog.
A friend showed us their guinea pigs and the kids just fell in love with them. Over the next two months we searched to find our new additions to the family. We didn't want to buy from a pet store, we wanted to save the lives of those that needed a second chance. So we researched on the internet the best place to adopt and we found Piggles Rescue through the Petfinder website. Caroline from Piggles Rescue was extremely helpful in making sure we made the right decision and giving all the information we needed to properly care for them. When I visited the shelter, the two I had seen online through Petfinder were more beautiful than I imagined. They had been given up due to their previous owner's allergies. Although I had wanted only two pigs, another two caught my eye. These two had been in shelter for nine months. Why, I couldn't imagine, as they were both such sweet piggies. I didn't want to just leave them there, so I adopted all four of them! Three girls and one boy (neutered). Penny, Shyla, Nim and Jackson.
It has been seven months since they were brought into our home, and they are spoiled! Their squeals of delight when their breakfast and dinner are served brighten up the whole house and we can't imagine life without them now.
They all definitely have their own personalities: Jackson is playful, adventurous and my daughter's favorite . Penny is gentle, loves her food and loves to give kisses - we call her "Licky Lick". Shyla is the boss of the herd (she is not shy anymore!) and my son's favorite. Nim is noisy but cute and she gets along really well with Jackson - the kids arranged a "marriage". My kids just adore them.
I am so happy that there are sites like Petfinder that match needy animals with loving homes. I hope one day, there will never be a need for shelters because all animals will get the love and care they so richly deserve.
Keep up the good work. Thank you!
