Daisy - A Petfinder Happy Tail
Daisy and Walter - posted 02/22/2010
From Lynn of Hudson, NC
We got our Bull Terrier, Walter, from a breeder when he was eight weeks old. When he was almost two years old, we began thinking that it was time for Walter to have a companion. As luck would have it, a friend and shelter volunteer called me to say they had a dog that looked just like Walter at the shelter.
My friend and I went to check out the dog the next day at lunch. Daisy had been at the shelter for several months and several people had been interested in adopting her, however, Daisy had serious dominance issues and dog aggression issues so could not be placed in a home with another dog.
As I talked to the shelter staff about this dog I was surprised to learn that, not only did Walter and Daisy come from the same breeder, but, in fact, they were litter mates! My husband and I brought Walter to the shelter later that afternoon and Daisy and Walter had no aggression issues whatsoever. Daisy went home with us that evening.
We have now have had Daisy just over a year. She now knows how to walk on a leash and is no longer a counter surfer. She is less frightened of things outdoors (like motorcycles and skate boards) and is obedient to the most common dog commands. Daisy still has issues with other dogs but she is working on this, too.
Walter loves having Daisy around, and we do, too.
