ROGERS' RESCUES 5-STEP ADOPTION PROCESS

Step #1 The Adoption Application

The adoption process begins with the Adoption Application found at the top of the page. Anyone wishing to adopt from Rogers' Rescues must first fill out an Adoption Application Form. This must be filled out completely! Incomplete applications cannot be processed and will delay your request for adoption. Please follow the instructions in the application with regard to vet info and personal references. Upon receipt, your application and references will be checked. You should be hearing from us within 3-5 days via email regarding the status of your application. If you don't hear from us within 5 days, please email us for a status update. We process every application received and notify you whether you have been approved or denied. Sometimes we are so swamped with applications it may take us up to 5 days to respond, but we will respond! Even if you don't see a dog you like on our current listing, you can still fill out the application and begin the interview process. We pull from multiple shelters and can put you on our email list for announcements after your application has been processed.

At this point, you're probably really excited...you've submitted your application and you're sitting on pins and needles wondering whether you'll be allowed to adopt this dog. We WILL be in touch within 5 days. We know how excited adopters get once they submit an application....but we are all volunteers and most of us work full time, so our rescue work is done on evenings and weekends. Occasionally, we have computer problems and an app doesn't come through...which is why we tell you to contact us if you haven't heard from us within 5 days. We process EVERY application received and notify you whether your application is approved or denied. Just keep checking your email. While you're waiting...please follow the instructions in our online application with regard to submitting references and vetting information. This will help to speed up the process.

Step #2 Phone Interview

Once your application has been reviewed and references have been checked, you will be contacted via email with an appointment date/time for a phone interview. Please do not call before your appointment time as we have many phone interviews scheduled.

Step #3 Meeting The Animal

This step may happen before or after the home visit. Following the interview, arrangements will be made for you to meet with the animal you wish to adopt. This meeting may take place at an adoption day or at the home where the animal is being fostered. If you have other animals in your home we must insist on bringing your pet with you to make sure all animals are compatible.

Step #4 The Home Visit

Before any adoption can be finalized, we will schedule a home visit. A home visit is required to ensure that a proper and safe environment will be provided for the animal you wish to adopt. We ask that all members of the household be at home at the time of this visit.

Step #5 Finalizing The Adoption

After your home visit is complete and you are approved to adopt, you will be asked to review and sign the Adoption Agreement Contract and settle the adoption donation. Then it's time to take your happy pooch home!
