HOW YOU CAN HELP?

FOSTERING

We are always looking for foster homes for our rescues. For every pet we take there are dozens waiting to come into our rescue. If you can foster even one, it will make all the difference to that pet. We usually have an assortment of pets to chose from and a typical foster lasts from 2-5 weeks. We also need fosters for mothers while they are nursing the litter. You would be taking care of them for 8 weeks until they are ready to alter and adopt out. As a foster parent you would be responsible for the dogs daily care in your home. You would also be responsible for pickup and drop off of your foster for adoptions. We are responsible for the veterinary care of the pet and the food.

DRIVERS

We need drivers who can drive to shelters help bust death-row inmates outta jail on rescue pick-ups. There are dogs who can be saved if only there are folks available with cars to go pick them up.

DONATIONS

Our veterinary bills are sometimes into thousands of dollars per pet. Routine veterinary care on a rescue includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, grooming and is usually $150-200. However many of our dogs need more then routine care, for example: bloodwork, lump removals, biopsies, eye surgery, etc. Anytime we get a senior pet who needs a dental its typically $300-500 including the extractions and pain meds. Adoption fees alone do not cover those fees and we always appreciate donations. We use VCA La Mirada Animal Hospital as our primary veterinary hospital and they are very generous with our rescues, but still those expenses add up.

We also need donations of several items:

  • Gift Certificates to pet-related places such as Petsmart

  • Frontline Plus or Advantage for flea prevention

  • Piddle Pads for housebreaking
