Yonkers Animal Shelter, located at 120 Fullerton Avenue in Yonkers, New York is a municipal shelter run by the City of Yonkers.

Interested in adopting? We are constantly in search of new homes for all our wonderful pets, both cats and dogs. These animals are asking for a chance to show you their affection and love. If you are interested in a pet please consider meeting our beautiful animals. Our volunteer adoption coordinator is available to discuss our adoptable animals with you. Potential adopters are required to fill out our pre-adoption form, which can be done at the shelter or, if you wish to speed up the process, downloaded here and completed in advance. Please note, all adoption fees are CASH ONLY and you must be at least 21 years of age...

We are open daily to adopters, Monday through Friday 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 12:00 noon to 3:30 PM.

We are easily accessible from the New York State Thruway.

If you are coming south from Westchester, Connecticut or upstate New York via the Tappan Zee Bridge, please take Thruway exit 4 onto Central Park Avenue. Make a right at the Shell Station (Midland Avenue) and follow Midland Avenue up the hill until your first right turn (Fullerton Avenue). Follow Fullerton Avenue to the dead end; shelter is on your right.

If you are coming north from New York City or New Jersey via the George Washington Bridge, please take Thruway exit 4 at Cross County Shopping Center onto Central Park Avenue. This is easily spotted by Macy's Department Store in the shopping center. Follow Central Park Avenue until just past the second overpass and exit on Midland Avenue. Make a right at end of exit ramp onto Midland Avenue and follow Midland Avenue up hill to Fullerton Avenue (first right after traffic light) and make right. Follow Fullerton to the dead end; shelter is on your right.

Volunteering and Donations

We are always looking for volunteers. To find out more about volunteering with the Yonkers Animal Shelter Volunteers, please click here.

Donations are always welcomed at the shelter. We accept old towels, blankets, dog and cat food, canned and dry. We also participate in the Heinz Homeless Pet Program and would appreciate any redemption symbols. They can be sent to the shelter c/o Yonkers Parks Dept., 285 Nepperhan Ave., Yonkers, NY 10701.
