Thank you so much for your interest in our dogs and our program!

Wynn Rescue is non-profit organization run entirely by a team of volunteers. Our dogs live in homes in the region until they find permanent placement. All our dogs are completely up-to-date on vaccinations and yearly tests, spayed or neutered, temperament-tested, and examined by a local veterinarian and given a health certificate prior to adoption. It is our goal to tell you as much as we can about our rescues in the hopes of making a wonderful, positive, and life-long match.

We are looking forward to our new arrivals on Friday 11/21!

Ebony, Ivory, Desirea and Spot will be arriving to us and will be ready for adoption shortly thereafter. If you have initial interest in them, we'd love to "get the ball rolling" with the application process with you so please contact us!

Also, please take a look at the two other dogs we have posted that are here in the area. Buppy is with a private rescuer in the area and is incredibly loyal and affectionate with her family. Nellie is currently living with our veterinarian and is looking to share your couch :) Both girls are not "officially" Wynn Rescue dogs, but we are helping others in our community help these two very deserving rescues.

We have wonderful news to share about one of our past adoptees!

Wynn Rescue needs help as we try and expand to have a physical space for some of our pups!

After a busy summer and fall with lots of dogs and lots of wonderful adoptions, Wynn Rescue will be "putting up our paws" for a few months during the holiday season. We will still have a small number of available dogs at any given time, but our major focus will be on revamping the basement of one of our volunteers to make a nicer short-term shelter for the dogs.

Why a shelter space, you ask? Well, don't worry...our rescue will still be fosterhome-based, allowing us to care for the dogs in a home and to learn a lot about them prior to adoption. But we are hoping to create a space that allows us to best care for them during the transition time from when they arrive to when they enter into a foster home -- this includes the 48 hour quarantine, taking them to vet visits for their health certificates, and getting to know them so we can place them in the best foster home for them. We are beginning to realize that having a safe updated space for them to settle in would be wonderful! One of our volunteers has generously offered a great basement space to be turned into a doggie haven.

For this, we are in need of all types of building materials at no or low cost or free. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization so all donations are tax deductible. Our needs include: insulation, drywall, paint, cement sealer, windows, two exterior doors, caulking, spackle, and a large sink. Our little rescues need your help....please contact us if you think you can.

On a final note....We are always looking for new foster homes.

Who We Are

The Wynn Dog Rescue is a completely volunteer team of animal lovers from the Eastern Monadnock region. We are a 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization through the United States Government in addition to being a NH Charitable Organization. We have been rescuing dog since 2006, and have had more than 250 wonderful animals come through our rescue operation and into loving homes since that time.

"Wynn" means "friend" in Old English. Wynn is a real dog -- a big black Lab/Staffie/Chow/Akita super-mutt with a curly tail, massive chest, and petite feet. Like many rescued dogs across the nation, Wynn is very appreciative of her life and loves her family very much. And like many rescued dogs across the nation, she inspired her family to rescue more dogs. So The Wynn Dog Rescue was born in March of 2006 with a few people that wanted to help more people find their "friends" in rescued dogs.

There are lots of rescues organizations, breeders, and even (sigh...) pet shops out there from which you and your family could choose to find your new addition, so why us? We have a few reasons and would like to share them with you.

1. WE KNOW OUR DOGS VERY WELL, AND BECAUSE OF THIS, WE CAN MAKE VERY STRONG MATCHES.

We pride ourselves on making positive and lifelong matches between dogs and families. We get to know our dogs well because they live in actual homes while they await their permanent families, so we learn a lot of information about them and what homes best suits each individual dog.

We think every dog is cute, and we think every dog deserves a long, comfortable, and well-loved life...but just because a dog is cute and up for adoption doesn't mean it should live with you. Dogs are part of your family for 10-15 years (we hope), and there is a lot to consider when making your match. Activity level, sociability with dogs/kids/small animals, temperament, history, level of training needed -- all of these are very important factors when picking your match. We have implemented a program that allows us to know these things, and share them with you, prior to inviting a dog to join your family. And of course, cuteness helps too.

2. OUR DOGS ARE VERY HEALTHY AND WELL-CARED FOR.

When looking for a new pet, you need to consider what else you are getting for your money in addition to a new baby. A new pup with only minimal vet care could cost close to $1000 in their first year alone. An older dog that hasn't been heartworm tested and is later found to be positive once he/she is "yours" could cost you multiple thousands (in addition to lots of tears and frustration watching your new friend undergo toxic treatment.) Aside from money, there are also safety issues, since for example, intestinal worms can be passed to other animals as well as humans.

Our dogs enter their new homes with extensive vet care and medical treatment to make sure they are healthy and safe for your family. They have been vaccinated with the full DHLPP series, a Rabies vaccination, and Bordatella vaccine. They have received a Heartworm-Lyme-Ehrlichia-Anaplasmosis test if old enough and the results have been negative, or they have been treated for the diseases and are considered to the best of our knowledge to be free from them at the time of adoption. They have been on heartworm preventative monthly, and they have been dewormed monthly. All animals have been spayed and neutered.

As a final step prior to adoption, all of our animals are seen by a certified veterinarian and given a health certificate that deems them healthy and ready for adoption, as required by the State of NH. We extend a very special thanks to Dr. Heather Sawyer of the Fieldstone Animal Clinic in Rindge, NH, as well as Dr. Judy Surdam of the Animal Care Clinic in Peterborough, NH, for their time with each and every rescue.

3. WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER TEAM.

The Wynn Dog Rescue is comprised totally of volunteers. We have no paid staff members, so our group runs completely on the love of dogs. We devote our free time to this cause because we love dogs, and we love to see them find their "happy-ever-after." We are "paid" in puppy kisses and in knowing that we have saved many lives.

Because we are all-volunteer, you can know that you are supporting an organization that supports the dogs.

Our Dogs

The majority of our dogs come from Second Chance Animal Rescue in Puerto Rico, an outstanding organization on the island that rescues and rehabilitates dogs that are found abandoned, unwanted, and malnourished. They are a wonderful group of dedicated individuals that send us wonderful dogs, and we are pleased to have such a nice relationship with them.

We also take in local surrenders -- dogs here in our area that are no longer able to live with their current families due to a variety of reasons, often times through no fault of their own. We take them into our foster program and work to find them a new chance at happiness.

We are a foster-home rescue organization, without a physical shelter. Our dogs live in temporary homes with loving volunteers until we can find them permanent placement. We feel this structure allows us to get to know the dogs very well, and then to place them in homes where they can shine.

As a rescue of foster homes, we do not have a physical shelter you can visit at any given time. We do hold monthly "Meet and Greet" days at local businesses where potential adoptive families can come and meet our available pups. The dates for the Meet and Greets will be posted under News at the top of the page. We also can set up individudal meetings with pre-approved families at any time that works for all parties involved. We would love to add foster homes to our organization to maximize the number of dogs we can bring up each time. Fostering is a great way to meet and care for many dogs. Fostering with us is just once a month (when you are able) and it generally lasts from 2-4 weeks. It can help to socialize and exercise existing dogs...and of course, it is incredibly rewarding to see these lovely little dogs from often-horrific beginnings go into secure homes in our region. General inquiries can also be sent via email and you can expect a reply within 48 hours.

An application must be filled out before we can set up a meeting with a specific dog. With the application, we are looking what sort of home you provide, that your current pets are well cared for, and that a dog (or an additional dog) is the right fit for you.

By requesting information on an animal and initiating the screening process, it is not a guarantee that the particular animal that you have inquired about is yours to adopt. This is only the first stage of the adoption process. The Wynn Dog Rescue does not place our animals on a "first come, first served" basis, but does adopt to the best home possible for the animal. Generally, our mission is to find the right match for you and the rescue so that all parties can live happily ever after!

If a dog is here in the area, after an application is completed, an appointment can be made with the foster family to meet the dog. If the dog is still located in Puerto Rico, we can make arrangments for the dog can arrive on the next rescue shipment for you to meet.

The adoption fee for our dogs is $250 -- This covers the costs for the dog's vet care, a full set of shots, and the spay or neuter (or, depending on how you look at it, these same costs for the next rescue in line!) Most of this money is returned to Second Chance Animal Rescue in Puerto Rico. The remainder is used toward dogs in foster care, any medical expenses, and to run our Adoption Days.

MOLLY

Molly�s adoption (when she was called Pip!) has been so successful that we�re featuring her a second time! Denise sent us the following, to keep us abreast of her continued progress. She�s turned into quite the �queen bee�, it seems!

Since you asked for some recent Molly pictures, here are a couple of her �royalness�! Since turkey is Molly's favorite food, she can't wait until next week! She's at 'school' today with her friends. She can't wait to jump out of the car to go and play! She goes to "A Diamond in the Ruff" here in Northboro. They have a website. She loves it there and burns off much of that energy in that little body!

She really believes she is the queen! She and Petey (our adopted street tabby) are true partners in crime and work as a team. If we leave food on the counter (even covered), Petey will uncover it and drop pieces down on the floor for Molly while he enjoys some himself! Hence, we can't leave any food on the counter (meat related). They are quite the duo!

Is Bo not a handsome boy?! He came to us just recently but (not surprisingly!) Sue couldn�t resist his looks and charm! She wrote right away to tell us how he was settling in to his new home:

I just wanted to send you a note with a picture of Bo. We're having a wonderful time. He hasn't acted out at all since he came home with me. He seems happy, is eating well, and is playing well with other dogs. He follows me around the house, but he is fine when I leave for work.

He's interacted with some kids, and he is so sweet with them. They are very gentle with him, and he reciprocates. Also, he hasn't had any accidents since he's been with me. We found him on the couch the first night he stayed with us, but since then, he has slept on his dog bed. He hasn't chewed on anything he's not supposed to.

And he's been excellent on walks (he does get scared if a large car/truck passes, but you warned me of that!), and I even took him on a short jog (he was perfect). Essentially, he's a dream dog. Thank you so much!

Sue, Bo is a very special boy and it�s so wonderful to hear how well he is doing! He probably thinks he�s dreaming! Thank YOU!
