The Wildwood Pet Network (WPN) was founded in 1996 as a way to quickly reunite Greater Cincinnati lost animals with their families. We believe that when a wandering animal is found it is vital to THINK LOST, NOT STRAY. Immediate action must be taken to safeguard the animal and locate the family. According to national statistics only 14% of lost dogs and 4% of lost cats who are housed in shelters are ever reunited with their families. If every person who finds an animal would make a good faith effort to reunite them with their family our shelters and rescues would only need to take care of truly homeless animals.

If you have lost an animal, please file a

LOST ANIMAL REPORT immediately.

ADDITIONAL LOST AND FOUND INFORMATION

*Please post EVERY animal that is found (and have a vet or shelter scan each one for a microchip) even if they appear abandoned, feral, or stray! Lost animals can get matted, dirty, and exhausted quickly, so please never assume a wandering animal is a dumped stray, they can very well be a lost pet a family is desperate to find. Think lost, not stray!

NOTIFY (call/visit/post fliers) the police department if you've found or lost an animal, contact the area county humane shelters so they can list the animal on their lost or found log (contact info below), email or call area rescues (search http://www.petfinder.com), post fliers in vet offices (including Emergency Hospitals) & pet stores, and give fliers to postal workers & school bus drivers or anyone who works in or drives through the area everyday & can be on the lookout for the animal or lost or found signs.

.If you are thinking about adopting an animal, please contact us to place your name on our waiting list. We will ask you what kind of animal you wish to adopt....the species, physical and personality characteristics. We also need to have some information about you and your family, your lifestyle and the amount and type of space that you have available. We will contact you when we have a good match. If you are interested in adopting a specific animal in our petfinder registry, please email woodhousecat@aol.com to arrange for an interview. All animals have been checked by a veterinarian. The adoption process includes an interview, home visit and a two-day "get to know each other" visit. When an adoption is finalized and an adoption agreement is signed, a donation in the animal's name is accepted and follow up is provided.

"All creatures are created from the same paternal heartbeat of God. Not to hurt our humble brethren is our first duty to them, but to stop there is not enough. We have a higher mission -- to be of service to them whenever they require it."

~St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals

Thousands of years ago, all the animals were wild. Because we as humans wanted the companionship of animals, we formed a covenant with cats and dogs. We asked them to give up their wildness to become our friends and companions. By agreeing to be our companions, the animals, our "pets", lost their natural skills to fend for themselves. It then became OUR responsibility to feed, care for and protect them. As we continued to change and reshape the environment to make life easier for ourselves, we made it harder and more dangerous for the animals. The animals have kept their part of the bargain, but we as humans have not. The Wildwood Pet Network is trying to make amends. Our goal is to see that companion animals remain safe at home, away from dangerous streets and out of over crowded shelters. We believe that all animals, wild and domestic, deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. We further believe that each and every one of us can make the difference needed to keep our promise to the animals.

We CAN do this, if we work together!
