Why is Husky and Malamute Rescue Needed?
Millions of unwanted domestic dogs are euthanized by Human Societies each year, among these millions are some of the most loyal and misunderstood breeds, such as the husky or malamute.The gorgeous looks of these animals is enough to blind a potential buyer from the warnings of the husky's neurotic behavior , they don't realize the commitment, energy, and understanding it takes to care for them. When the realization sets in, it is the husky or malamute that suffers. CANIS RECOVERY is a safe den for these animals.
Who We Are
CANIS RECOVERY is a non-profit (501(c)3) group of volunteers who are dedicated to saving Huskys / Malamutes and other exceptional large breed dogs from HIGH KILL shelters, as well as abused, neglected, or abandoned homes. We strongly believe in the need to control pet population and urge you to help in saving the life of a shelter animal before buying from a "puppy mill supporter" petstore. 25% OF SHELTER ANIMALS ARE PUREBRED.
CANIS RECOVERY is a growing rescue devoted to the education and protection of Huskys and Malamutes. We have saved countless lives but, tragically there were countless lives we could not save. We are always growing,yet, it seems it is never enough. Because we are non-profit and very small, we are relied upon donations from compassionate people like you, that support our cause. All your donations are reconnized as tax deductable to the IRS because of our 501(c)3.
How Can You Help?
***FOSTER AN ANIMAL- Your temporary home is a chance for a deserving canine to continue to live.
***DONATIONS- The cost of a vet exam, vaccinations, and microchipping of one animal is $78. That does not include the cost of spaying/ neutering, medications, special needs, and food. All donations are greatly appreciated.
***WE ARE ALSO IN NEED OF- Large crates, blankets, dog bowls, food, etc....
Adopting a friend
An application as well as a homecheck is necessary for all potential adopters. Contact us for information on how to fill out an application on line. Once your application has been approved a Pet Adoption Agreement is required. Our adoption fees are usually $65- $150 for a Husky, Malamute or a large breed dog. All adoption fees are due upon signing of the Pet Adoption Agreement. To adopt a Husky you must be knowledgable in the care and management of these special dogs.
Meet Egypt, she is not certified as a therapy dog, but she does not let that stop her! Egypt has been visiting Memory Care hospitals that care for patients with Alzheimers for about 4 months now, and she loves the attention. Egypt is a year old now so, I hope to have many more years of shareing this wonderful animal with the people that need her healing.
