• Just a little reminder for our readers, being a TRUE No-Kill animal shelter we do not have an open door policy. We have a closed door policy, which means that once we are at our capacity we CANNOT accept any other animals in until ours in the shelter get adopted.
• When you’re looking for a new pet, you should maybe think of adopting an older pet. Although puppies and kittens are REALLY cute, you must remember they are a LOT of time, energy, and effort to get a perfect pet. Keep in mind, when you adopt any animal from a shelter, you are taking this animal home for life and the animal. Older animals need just as much love, time, and kisses that the younger ones need. All our dogs and cats at the shelter will give you a rewarding experience and return your love tenfold.
• If you think that you want to adopt from a shelter, please keep in mind that it is going to take time and a lot patience for animals to adjust to their new home. This doesn't happen overnight and could take months for your and your new family member to get used to living in a house rather than on the streets.
• IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO ABANDON ANY ANIMAL, IF ANYONE ABANDONS AN ANIMAL(S) AT THE SHELTER, WE WILL PROSECUTE.

Sponsored by White Oak Borugh - SATURDAY, May 3, 2008 - 12:00 Noon UNTIL 2:00 PM Municipal Garage 2280 Lincoln Way RABIES SHOTS FREE FOR WHITE OAK RESIDENTS - MUST PROVIDE PROOF OF RESIDENCY. $10.00 PER PET FOR NON-WHITE OAK RESIDENTS. Please have correct change. Pets (dogs and cats) must be in good health, not pregnant, and be at least 3 months of age or older. ADDITIONAL INOCULATIONS AVAILABLE FOR A FEE DHLPP (dog only) $15.00 BORDETELLA (dog only) $15.00 FVRCP (cat only) $15.00 FELV (cat only) $15.00 PROCEEDS BENEFIT - WHITE OAK ANIMAL SAFE HAVEN.

2008 BARK -A- THON (formerly Walk for the Animals)

ALL proceeds from this walk benefit the homeless animals of White Oak Animal Safe Haven - a no-kill shelter. Saturday, June 7, 2008 (rain date Saturday, June 21st) White Oak Park Beech Grove. A scenic 5-mile walk awaits the participants and their leashed four-footed family members. Free refreshments will be offered & free t-shirs for pledges totaling $100.00 or more. Registration is from 10 am - 12 noon at the entrance of the Park. ALL proceeds from this walk go toward helping the homeless animals of White Oak Animal Safe Haven, Inc., a no-kill shelter. If you would like to purchase an ad for the Walk T-Shirt, the costs are: $25.00, $50.00, $75.00, & $100.00. Please contact Ina if you would like to advertise for this event at (412) 672-8901. Our hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11 AM - 2 PM and again from 6 PM - 8 PM. Saturdays Noon - 4 PM, Sundays Noon - 2 PM. We are closed to the public on Thursdays.
