SPONSOR ALERT! We are now offering sponsorship of our doggie kennels! For only $500 a year you or a business can sponsor a kennel and all the dogs that pass through its doors. This is also a kind way to memorialize a friend or loved one's passing.

Licenses can be purchased by calling the Animal Services Agency at 986-2155 or ;
In person at the following City of Winnipeg offices:

Our aim is to reunite you with your pet so please make sure your information is up to date and we have your current phone number and address. Call 986-2155 to notify us of any changes.
* Regular license not neutered dog $60.00
* Reduced fee for neutered dogs $25.00
* 2 Year Licenses offer a 10% discount in the second year

If Animal Services Agency finds your lost dog and it is wearing a valid City of Winnipeg Dog License:
* Our staff will call the telephone numbers on record. If someone is at home at the time of our call, your dog will be returned FREE OF CHARGE.
* If we are unable to contact anyone at the time of pick-up, we will leave a message (if possible) and your dog will be brought to the safety of our Animal Services Agency facility at 1057 Logan Avenue. You may claim your dog FREE OF CHARGE by close of the next business day.
* Your dog is entitled to one “Free Ride” per license year in the event it is unfortunately lost and picked-up by our Agency.
* Please remember, if your dog is lost, call us at 311 to check if your dog is here and to leave a lost report in case we find your pet.
A valid license offers you substantial savings. “Free Ride”means instant savings of $70.00 or more.

Where does the money I pay you for my dog license go?
100% of dog license fees stay with the Animal Services Agency to help offset the Agency costs.
Your license fee allows Animal Services Agency to:
* feed and shelter your dog if it becomes lost until it can be re-united with you
* transport lost dogs that require emergency care to a veterinarian
* educate the public about responsible pet ownership
* return lost dogs to their owners
* reduces funding from taxes for the above and other animal related services designed to protect the public’s health and safety
* operate a Dog Adoption Program

Carolyn is a Professional Dog Trainer, certified through one of Canada's leading dog training institutions, located and registered with PCTIA (Private Career Training Institute Agency), in British Columbia. She has also earned the Canine Specialist designation through the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council of Canada, as well as several certificate courses through the Humane Society of the USA, Doggone Safe, and The Vegan Dog Nutrition Association. She is a corporate member of Responsible Dog Owners of Canada and certified as an evaluator for the Canadian Canine Good Citizen Test. Please contact

Who We Are

The Animal Services Agency provides animal control measures under the City of Winnipeg Charter and related by-laws. This service also includes public education and the promotion of responsible pet ownership , as well as the adoption of unclaimed dogs and puppies.

Dog Licensing
According the City of Winnipeg Pound By-law 2443/79 Section 17.(a), all dogs over the age of six months must be licensed.
For a twelve month period:
* Regular license (unsterilized dog) $61.00
* Reduced fee for sterilized dog $26.00
* 2 Year Licenses offer a 10% discount in the second year
Please remember to change you address if you move and update any phone numbers so we can contact you if your pet ever gets lost.
If you lose you license tag you can get a replacement for only $2.00.

How do I register a complaint?
To register a complaint with the Animal Services Agency, please call 311. At that time you will be asked a series of questions:
* your name, address and phone number
* the address of where the animal lives, if known
* the date and time that the incident occurred
* a detailed description of the incident
* a description of the animal

Your complaint will be registered and an Animal Services Agency Officer will investigate.
Please note that Animal Services Agency does not respond to anonymous complaints
You name will not be given out unless charges against the offender are laid. Winnipeg Animal Services has a privacy policy in place, to keep the anonymity of complainants.
