THE MADISON DOG FAIR WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

Thank you to Ruth, Princess, Nadine, Midge, Cheryl, Thelma, Louise and to Everyone who attended on November 8th!!

S-M-I-L-E

MIDGE WOULD MAKE YOUR WORLD COMPLETE
COME MEET MIDGE AT THE MADISON DOG FAIR ON SUNDAY
Are you looking for a tiny, little girl to adopt?

Here are a few details about Midge from her foster mother:
• Midge is a healthy, active, girl - age 10 - with many long years ahead of her.
• The first thing you will notice about Midge is how adorable and small she is.
She was so light that she almost blew away when she came into foster care.
• Midge is timid & would likely be scared living in a home around active children on a daily basis.
• She loves attention & is definitely comfortable around both men & woman.
• Midge isn’t 100% house broken, but does her very best when she is taken outside every 4 hours or so during the day.
• Midge is a bit fussy about getting baths & getting her hair cut.
A professional groomer should know how to deal with frightened dogs.
• Midge sleeps in a crate at night. & is confine to the kitchen (non- carpeted area), when her foster mom is gone to work.

ROXIE COULD BECOME THE SPICE OF YOUR LIFE!

Roxie is a fire cracker waiting to be lit!
She is very intelligent, a confirmed escape artist, and fast, fast, fast.
An above ground fenced yard would be our first choice for her - or - "secure" harness/leash walking.
Young children would probably not be able to prevent her from escaping out the door unfortunately.
We are recommending that children in the home be age 10 years or older.
A gate at the doorway would also work best.
Roxie is tiny at 10 pounds.
She has a slight luxating patella which makes her appear to skip when she runs.

Emmy Is Praying For a New Home By Christmas

Emmy is a 3 year old purebred Bichon that has asked us to help her find her own home before Christmas.
She is the most adorable little girl. This photo does not do her justice.
No one seems to want to adopt Emmy because she is not the most perfectly house trained gal.
We firmly believe that if she went to a home where someone could take her outside every few hours, that she would do well.
She is one of those Bichons that may never be 100% potty reliable though.
Emmy is a very dominant female.
She would be okay as an only doggie with lots of attention or with a male that was confident in play.
Emmy is assertive with another female dogs because she is such an ALPHA girl.
Emmy can become hyper stimulated when other dogs or children are running or play hard.
Emmy would be the love of your life with many special & sweet qualities to share.

Would you like to hear a story today with a happy ending?

TUFF IS GOING HOME!

Congratulations to Matt, Connie & their family for making Tuff's Wishes Come True!

BUDDY ~ BUDDY ~ BUDDY ~ BUDDY ~ BUDDY

WHAT A JOY! He bounces. He twirls, He jumps like a deer. Buddy came to a WI-BFR a few months ago & has had all of vet work completed. His sweet little tail continues to wag 100-miles-per-hour! You can apply for him now. Find out more about Buddy by clicking on our Adoptable Pets list below.

It is difficult to find people who want to adopt under-socialize & non-house broken dogs.
In many cases, the alternative to WI-BFR not caring for these special fluffs was euthanasia in an animal shelter.
Thankfully, we have wonderful volunteers who could not let that happend.
Our hope is that one day, adoptive parent will come along to give them a forever home of their very own.
Until that day - will you open your heart to help?
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

SPARKY IS WAITING PATIENTLY FOR YOUR CALL!

NEWS

HELP US SAVE BICHONS IN NEED OF MEDICAL CARE!

Bichons that are surrendered to Bichon Rescue are usually in need of vaccinations, heart worm testing, fecal culture, dental exam & cleaning and are frequently not spayed/neutered or groomed. Each receives a comprehensive physical and we treat any existing conditions. The cost to do this far exceeds any donations that we receive from adoptive families. Rescue groups must make up the deficit in order to continue taking dogs into rescue. We need the help that you can provide us with!

Who Are We & What Do We Do?

WI Bichon Frise Rescue was founded to serve the needs of Bichons Frises and their owners in about a 150-mile-radius of Madison, WI. WI Bichon Frise Rescue, Inc. is NOT a shelter. We are a group of volunteers who take in Bichons Frises & Bichon Mixes from various situations, most commonly from someone surrendering the dog (i.e. moving, unable to care for animal anymore, etc), from animal shelters and from puppy mill situations. WI-BFR foster parents provide the dog with food, behavior modification, medication/vet care, exercise, socialization, and of course lots of LOVE! The needs of organization have increased dramatically over the last several years. Due to this fact, foster homes are needed. If you don't have a Bichon, fostering may be a good way for you to see if a Bichon Frise is right for your home. If you are unable to foster, but would still like to be a volunteer, we gratefully welcome the assistance of people who can pick-up and transport too.

CONTACT US for a fostering/volunteer application!

Once an individual sees a Bichon Frise on our Pet Finder list that they believe may be a good match, they should request an adoption application. If the match looks like a good one, the WI-BFR foster parent will set up a time to do a home visit with the dog.

SURRENDERING A BICHON FRISE

Questions & Answers About Adoption

QUESTION ANSWER
Where can I see dogs available for adoption? At the very top of this page you will see a link that says "Our Adoptable Pet List". Click on the link and it'll take you directly to our available Bichons! Otherwise, if you scroll just below this table, you'll see a link that says "click here for a list of pets at this shelter". You can see pictures and read all about him/her directly from the foster parents who know him/her best!
Why do I have to live less than 150 miles of Madison? Part of our philosophy is establishing a relationship with you as a new pet owner. We want you to meet the dog and see if it's a good fit. One of our volunteers will bring the dog to you and give you a chance to ask questions and see how he/she interacts at your home. We will also check in after a few weeks post-adoption to see how things are going for you and the dog.
Why do I need to provide references? We want our Bichons to go to trustworthy loving homes. If you have a pet we will be contacting your vet to inquire about the care of your current animal. If you do not have a pet, we will contact non family references to ask about you and your home. References will be checked prior to finalizing the adoption.
How much do these rescue Bichons cost? The cost to adopt one of our dogs depends on age and health.
Will the dog be up to date on shots? Yes! Prior to adoption any dog from WI Bichon Rescue will be up to date on all vaccination shots and be tested for heartworm.
Can I expect the dog to be spayed or neutered? Yes! Part of the adoption fees guarantees your Bichon will be spayed or neutered.
What do I need to do to start the adoption process? Send us an e-mail, WIBICHON@YAHOO.COM and we will forward you an application. Simply fill out the application, return it to us, and we'll be in contact with you very soon!
What happens if I don't see a dog I like on the site or if I meet the dog and it won't work out? No problem! We are constantly getting new dogs into rescue. Be patient and just keep checking our site! Sooner or later the right dog will catch your eye and your heart.
