Hi, I'm Buddy. One of the nice volunteers here found me and couldn't find my owners so I'm now available for you to take home. Isn't that lucky for both of us!! I have one eye but that sure doesn't slow me down. You can see I'm always smiling, friendly and looking for my forever home. Maybe yours? Come down and let's get acquainted.
UPDATE ON "OREO":
"Oreo", our "special needs" dog was adopted by Joyce Darrell, author of "Extraordinary Dogs". She traveled cross-country to Maryland, where she now resides with other disabled animals. She is enjoying her new life and making many new friends!!!
We are collecting cellphones with batteries and empty ink cartridges (the kind that fit in the palm of your hand), which will be recycled and earn the shelter money for needed improvements, while protecting the environment.
We also started a fundraising campaign with"IGIVE.COM". You can go to their website to register, naming West End Shelter as your charity, and then everytime you buy online through a participating store, which there are 650+, the shelter will receive a percentage of your purchase. Also as a new registrant the shelter will get $5.00 on your first purchase, plus the percentage. So, go shopping and support your favorite cause.
We have a NEW

Who We Are
West End Shelter for Animals is a private, registered, non-profit organization. We are a no-kill pet placement and adoption center located in Ontario, California. We receive no government funding; our revenues come strictly from fees for services, donations, fundraising efforts, and our low-cost vaccination clinics. The shelter was established in 1954 as the local humane society, and in 1994 was converted to the present no-kill alternative facility. Visitors are always welcome!
Adopting a Friend
West End currently has over 100 companion dogs and cats awaiting adoption. All of our pets are spayed or neutered and current on shots. Adoption fee for dogs is $175.00; fee for cats ranges from $80-$100. The adoption process is fairly simple--once you have come in for a visit and found a pet, we ask you to fill out an adoption application which tells us about you and your family, your home and yard. We compare this information with what we know about the pet you have selected and, if it's a good match, we continue with the next step which is a home visit, if necessary. With every adoption, we offer a 15-day return period, during which we will accept your pet back at the shelter for any reason and exchange it for another of your choice; we do not offer refunds. We can accept cash, checks or credit cards. Also, during this period, you may have your pet examined by a veterinarian free of charge. We invite you to call our shelter to check on the availability of any animal listed for adoption on Our Pet List.
Volunteering and Donations
Volunteers are urgently needed and welcome to help with many pet-related projects at the shelter. If you are over 18 and can spare a few hours one or more days a week, please call the shelter or stop in and complete an application.
Monetary donations are greatly appreciated and can be mailed to our Mission Boulevard address. We are also grateful for donations of various pet products, blankets, towels, plastic wading pools for the hot summer months etc., which can be dropped off during regular shelter hours. All donations are tax deductible, and a receipt will gladly be provided.

Come a little closer, and I will give you a big kiss! I am Sonny, a 2 year old Long hair Chihuahua. Someone dropped me off at the vet - and left me there. I sure don't know why because I am friendly, easy-going and love to sit in your lap. I get along with dogs and pretty much everything. I hope that sounds good to you so come visit me soon.
