C.A.R.E. IS NOW A UNITED WAY supported organization.
With the United Way Campaign starting soon we just want to remind you, and ask that you inform anyone you think might be interested, that the animal rescue group (Columbia Animal Rescue Effort, a.k.a. CARE) is a United Way funded non-profit organization. If you have group meetings for United Way information, please tell your group that CARE is supported by United Way and all contributions are greatly appreciated.
If you are interested in supporting this group through your United Way donations, you would be contributing to the foster care of homeless dogs and cats in our program. This care not only includes food, litter, supplies, vet bills, and medications; but also includes spay and neuter costs for all of our little ones. CARE also assists the low income and elderly with spays and neuters to help the overpopulation problem in this area. CARE provides food to those wonderful folks who, although they are living on fixed incomes themselves, try to help feed the stray cat populations in their neighborhoods.

Columbia Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E) has helped many pets find their forever families. A special THANK YOU to all the wonderful families who have adopted one of our pets. We look forward to hearing from additional families who may be considering adopting a C.A.R.E. pet. It's important that family and pet are right for each other to make a successful adoption for both.
FOSTER HOMES ARE NEEDED! Please consider being a foster parent! Fostering offers all the rewards of pet ownership, without the commitment. If you are interested in fostering, please contact Kat at 509-967-0230.
Who We Are
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit, all-volunteer small organization dedicated to finding loving, caring families for abandoned/unwanted pets; providing education about responsible pet ownership and the prevention of animal over population; assisting communities in education to end the practice of euthanizing healthy adoptable animals and prevent animal abuse. Our goal is to foster relationships with other rescue organizations and shelters to reduce the number of adoptable animals that are euthanized each year.
We foster the pets in our homes so that each pet is exposed to living in a family environment. The pet learns that although some may have come from bad experiences with humans there are humans out there that are kind and will show them the love and affection they so deserve. These pets truly appreciate a warm home, clean water to drink, having food readily available, a lap to sleep on or a gentle hand to pet them. How do we know they are grateful? By the endless purrs we hear or the non-stop wagging tail and doggy kisses they give back.
Adopting a friend
Thank you for considering adopting a pet through our rescue organization. Rescue is not the place to find animals for breeding, fighting, or guard dog duty. These animals are pets, and will only be placed in carefully screened homes. We are the only voice these pets have, and we work hard to make sure their next home is forever. An approved adoption application is required.
All adult animals will be spayed or neutered, kittens and puppies will be required to be spayed or neutered within two weeks of turning 6 months old.

Adoption fees are as follows:
Dogs (and puppies that will mature to) 15 pounds and under-$80
Adult Dogs and puppies greater than 15 pounds-$75
Adult Cats (6 mnths and over) - $60 and Kittens (under 6 mnths)-$50

Petsmart is allowing us to show our animals full time in their Love-A-Pet center. Please feel free to come by and visit some of our available pets for adoption.

All monies donated are used for medical expenses for the pets. As a non-profit organization we rely heavily on the generosity of others.
