Parker Paws is sponsoring 25 spay/neuters (cats only) for $5 in February for low-income residents of Parker County. By appointment only. We have now reached our limit of 25 applicants, thank you. No more applications may be accepted for this year's event.

Who We Are

The City of Weatherford-Parker County Animal Shelter is a joint venture between the City of Weatherford and Parker County. Because we are a municipal shelter, our space fills up quickly. We take in an average of over 100 animals each week. We have 102 dog kennels, a cat room with several kitty condos, and a room for puppies and small breed dogs. We update Petfinder each week with pictures of all the available pets, but since they come in daily, there are usually more pets than what you will see here. You are welcome to call or visit us to see all of the adoptable animals.

Mobile Adoption Events

Parker Paws, a volunteer group for the shelter, was at the Weatherford Petsmart on February 6, and found homes for 3 shelter dogs.

Adopting a friend

You must be 18 years of age or older to adopt an animal. Adoption fees are only $85.00 for a female dog, $75.00 for a male dog, and $55.00 for each cat. The fee includes spay or neuter of the animal; plus rabies, parvo, and distemper vaccinations, as well as some additional feline vaccinations. It also includes micro-chipping. What a GREAT deal for a new best friend!!

Volunteering and Donations

Parker Paws is a 501c3 non-profit group created to support the animals at the shelter. It is an all-volunteer organization. Volunteers are needed to assist with our offsite Mobile Adoptions, walk, socialize, and bathe/groom animals at the shelter, as well as taking pictures for Petfinder. Volunteers must be 18 years of age and have a clear criminal background. You may come to the shelter to fill out an application or download an application here. Thank you!

We appreciate all the generous donations you've been bringing to the shelter and to our offsite adoption events! Our shelter welcomes donations of towels (used are fine); dry and canned dog, puppy and cat food; flea & tick medicine; kitty litter; bleach; laundry detergent; newspapers; hand sanitizer; and liquid hand soap. Thank you!

Come Visit Us!

From the Court House take Hwy 80/180 East 1 mile, Turn right onto E. Bankhead and go 1/2 mile to Hickory Lane. Turn right and follow Hickory Lane to the end of the street. The Shelter is located on the left.

From the interstate (I-20), take Exit 410 (E. Bankhead) and go north for 1.5 miles to Hickory Lane. Turn left and follow Hickory Lane to the end of the street. The Shelter is located on the left.

Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 11am - 4pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
