Chavone is a young Catahoula mix puppy. She has been in the shelter since she was a very young pup, and needs to get into a home where she can experience what a home is like!!!
She is ready for a great home and a new life!!!
Chavone is a 8 month old Catahoula Leapord mix. She is energetic, spunky, and a pleasure to be around. Sadly, her story has not always been this happy. When she was 12 weeks old, she had been ran over by a car and left on the side of the road for dead. We rushed her to the vet and got her the medical attention she so desperately needed. Since then, her broken leg and bumps and bruises have healed and she has a clean bill of health! She has had her cast off for a few weeks now, and sure has grown a lot!!! She loves all people, and gets along very well with dogs and cats.
Living at the animal shelter is the only life that this little girl has ever known. She don't know what it is like to have a real home, or even be in a home. She has never laid in a warm bed, or been loved on like she should. She has never been the center of attention, or high light of someones day. This is the true definition of a dog who has been "sheltered".
As much as we love her, we would really love for her to get a real home where she can experience things that life in the shelter can't provide to her. When we take her out in public she is confused and overwhelmed, she needs to be socialized and introduced to a normal life. If there is anyone out there that can foster her and teach her these skills, we would be ever so thankful! Being placed into a foster home would help this girl in a tremendous way.
A foster home for Chavone can be short term, or long term, you get to decide that! She has already been spayed and is up to date on all shots. If you live in Humphrey's County and have a fenced in yard, you can qualify to be a foster home for Chavone, or any of our animals. If you have any questions, or are interested in adopting or fostering, please call Tonya at Waverly Animal Shelter (931) 296-7413.

It's Getting Cold Outside!
With the cooler weather setting in, we are in need of moving our out door cats inside. That means we are going to have to adopt several to make room for everyone to have a warm place inside to sleep these cold nights that are about to be upon us. If you can foster or adopt any of our cats, it would mean that someone else would get to sleep and warm and snuggeled inside the shelter!!
***We are in dire need of short term foster homes. If you are able to foster any animal for a short time until they can be transported please contact us ASAP---it saves lives of these angels.
HCHS T-Shirts are $10 each, visit the shelter to purchase yours!

Who We Are
We are the Waverly Animal Shelter. We are employed by the City Of Waverly. We take in unwanted, lost, and abandoned animals from Humphreys County and try to find them homes. We work with the Humphreys County Humane Society, and the local vetrinarians, to get the medical care the animals need. We NEED numerous volunteers and donations to help make the animals stay at the shelter comfortable, and enjoyable. If you have a little time you could spare and would like to help, please stop by and pet a pup, or cuddle a kitty. Each of us can make a difference for one animal at a time.
