Winter Time is just around the corner. When your snuggled in your warm and cozy spot please remember that there are pets out there that don't have that.
Call the shelter and see what else is needed and be a friend and donate. A loving home and family are our biggest goal for our pets but until they are adopted please be kind and show them your kindness. Just think of the things they can give to you in return. If interested in a pet please contact the Director at 830-278-1407 or come by the Shelter. The days of operation are Monday thru Friday 10am. thru 4pm and half day on Saturday.
If you are looking for a smaller type breed, please call us, for we do have some in foster homes. People who are interested in fostering a pet please feel free to call for details.

Our shelter is in its 29th year of operation in the Uvalde area. We are located at 2893 North Highway U.S. 83, in Uvalde, Texas. We have a seperate facility just for the kittens and the cats. There is access to an "outside" area that we have prepared for them so they can get some fresh air and sunshine. We hope to inform a three or four county area of our existance out here and get the people out to see all the dogs and cats that need new homes.
Who We Are
The Uvalde Animal Shelter is a non-profit corporation opened 28 years ago to take in homeless, friendless, abandoned animals...., love and care for them until a new , responsible home can be found for them. Knoxie Johnson is our President, she is the driving force in the front lines and behind the scenes. Our shelter is supported by the caring people in our community. The shelter has a NO-KILL philosophy and will always provide a home for the animals that are too traumatized by past abuses or are to old or handicapped to be adopted. Our goal is to find homes for all. WE ARE NOT AFFLIATED WITH THE HUMANE SOCIETY OR THE ASPCA. WE ARE AN INDEPENDENTLY OWNED AND OPERATED SHELTER.
Adopting a friend
Our policy for adoption is two-fold. 1. To adopt a dog or cat, we charge a fee (please call the shelter at 830-278-1407 for this info) which covers the first puppy shot for the puppies, and a bordetello shot. A booster for the adults. It also includes their rabies shot and deworming. This also includes spay/neuter plus the above mentioned shots. 2. We require that you fill out an adoption form that gives us the information needed to authorize the adoption process.

We are located at 2893 North Highway U.S. 83, in Uvalde, TX. , the old Leakey Highway. The shelter is located on the North side of Uvalde, approximately 1 mile north of town after you go over the overpass. We are on the left side of the road coming from Uvalde. Call for better directions.
