Name: Tucker..... Breed: Min Pin/Rat Terrier Mix..... Gender: Male..... DOB: 3-1-2010..... Contact: crisdodgen@yahoo.com .....Bio: Tucker is a male Min Pin/ Rat Terrier mix. He was born on March 1, 2010. I am estimating that Tucker will remain under 25 lbs when fully grown. Tucker has a very charming personality. He is very loving with people and will enjoy being a lap dog. He is very intelligent and learns new lessons quickly. He gets along well with cats and enjoys playing quietly with calm dogs of all sizes. He does not get along well with rambunctious dogs. He has been neutered, fully vaccinated, and is crate trained. Due to Tucker's small size he will not be allowed to be adopted by a family that has children under the age of 9 years. A home visit is required before adopting Tucker. *****
If you would like more information about our featured dog be sure to send a note to the "Contact Person." This is the person fostering the dog and they will be happy to answer any questions you have. Please don't just show up at Adoption Day expecting every dog to be there. We are limited by the number of volunteers who can help at each Adoption Day.
Also, in sending your note to the Contact Person, be sure to include information about yourself, family, home, yard, fence, other pets, work situation, and pet accommodations. This information will help us make the best match between you and one of our dogs.
News
We are always in need of foster homes and help transporting and holding dogs at adoption day. If you live in or near Kingwood, we would love to have you come to Adoption Day and see if there is a job that suits you.
Twyla's Friends offers the "Prevent a Litter" (or PAL) program where we offer spays and neuters for dogs for $40. This program is for owner dogs only, not open to rescues or dogs you do not intend to keep. This is Twyla's Friends effort to help encourage dog owners to spay and neuter their pet and help decrease the local pet overpopulation problem. Be a responsible pet owner and call 832 488 7937 and leave a message or send us an email for more info. Not available if it is a high-risk surgery.

Who We Are
Twyla's Friends is a 501(3)(c) charity as recognized by the IRS. We have no physical shelter but instead depend on a small network of dedicated foster homes. Our mission is to help the dogs we can from our community. Unfortunately the need is much greater than our small base of foster homes can cover. Our foster homes almost always operate at or above their allowable foster dog capacity. Our greatest need right now is foster homes; we can only help as many dogs as can be fostered.
If you have lost or found a stray dog please email us a complete description (include a picture if possible) and put signs up in the area you found the dog. If the dog does not have an i.d. tag on, putting up signs is the most effective way to get a dog home. Contact the local vets and other rescue groups with this information as well. If you have found a stray dog and the owner cannot be located and you can foster the dog and bring it to adoption day in Kingwood at least twice a month, we can help you with the dog's medical expenses and provide you with guidance on how to foster a dog; we can sometimes even loan you a crate for the dog. If you cannot foster the dog yourself, we cannot help you at this time and suggest you contact the other local rescues or take the dog to one of the many Houston area based shelters. We are always happy to help motivated, compassionate people who can invest some time in finding dogs a new home and life. IF YOU HAVE FOUND A DOG AND CAN FOSTER THE DOG YOURSELF please contact us via email at twylasfriends@yahoo.com or call the hotline at 832-488-7937 and we will contact you with more information. We get dozens of calls and emails a day, be patient, it may take a few days to get back to you.
Twyla's Friends is a volunteer organization, there are no paid members and no shelter or kennel facilities. All the money donated is used to cover our vet expenses and fund the very successful PAL (Prevent a Litter) program where individuals who need financial help can get their dog spayed or neutered for $40.
Adopting a friend
Adoption donations vary depending on the dog's medical bills but generally range from $130 (most adults) to $150. Each dog will be medically treated and up to date at the advice of a veternarian, altered, fully vaccinated and health checked. Each dog is an individual and different rules may apply. Personality, whether the dogs are advisable with toddlers, whether the dog is good with other dogs, cats, housebroken, crate trained need to be confirmed with the contact person noted in the biography.
