Please - if you love dogs, help by applying to be a foster home. We will guide you and it is so rewarding to help a little dog get another chance at a good life. Please request a foster application if you can devote a month or two of your time. Please help us help the furkids in need.
Who We Are
Twin Tiers Rescue is a rescue group helping displaced small dogs (mainly Pomeranians and Pekingese) in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey find new, loving homes. All dogs receive necessary veterinary care, including vaccinations and spay or neuter. The dogs are kept in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted into a new, permanent home. Foster homes are a vital part of our rescue as some of these dogs have never known love or kindness. Fostering allows them to learn how to trust and live indoors in a family environment. We are always in desperate need of foster homes. If interested in applying to become a foster, please email us.
Adopting a friend
Prospective adopters are required to fill out an adoption application (request via email). If inquiring about a particular dog, please put its name in the subject line. We cannot consider applications submitted by anyone under age 21 and rarely consider homes with children under school age. We place our dogs in the best suited home, not first come first serve. A home visit is done and if it seems like a good match, a dog is placed following the family signing an adoption agreement to keep the dog indoors, maintain his/her vaccinations and provide a good, loving home, etc.
Pets are often visited after placement and representatives maintain contact to help deal with any questions or problems that may arise. Be aware, we will not ship a dog and with the high cost of gasoline, do not offer transport. Know that 100% of our adoption fee goes toward the vetting of rescues - we are all volunteers striving to make a difference in the lives of dogs. All dogs go to their adoptive home with a new collar, rescue tag and a toy. Note that we do not use extreme temperament tests on our dogs that invite failure but rather interact with them as a loving family would and view how they react under normal day to day circumstances.
Come Visit Us!
We are not a shelter than can be visited, as the dogs are in foster homes. Please contact us by email or fill in an online application if you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, fostering or donating. Please keep in mind that we get quite a few applications. If we don't contact you to arrange a home visit, please know we did read your application and preferred another OR it might have slipped through the cracks of receiving so many emails and pleas for help. Email us again to make sure we received your request.
