We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our shelter because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.

Who We Are

The Sonoma County Animal Shelter is committed to serving the public in the care and well being of animals, both domestic and livestock, throughout the unincorporated areas of Sonoma County and the towns of Windsor and Santa Rosa. The Shelter is operated by Sonoma County Animal Care & Control. This web site is maintained by the Sonoma County Animal Shelter. The Shelter offers such diverse services as finding homes for adoptable animals, providing shelter for stray animals, offering assistance to owners and finders of lost animals, providing limited veterinary care, and maintaining pet licensing. In addition, the Shelter sponsors various community education and outreach programs throughout the year. The Shelter's field services include rescue and care of injured or distressed animals, rabies control, investigation of reports of animal abuse and neglect, and the enforcement of animal regulation laws.

Our Featured Pet

We always have lots of wonderful pets needing homes. We have kittens, puppies, adult dogs and cats, purebreds, mixes, etc.... We just can't pick one special pet to use as our featured companion, because they are all such terrific animals! However.... did you know that large black dogs, pit bulls (or pit bull mixes) and black cats are the hardest to adopt out? If you have room for a large dog.... or if you are looking for a cat... please consider adopting an animal matching one of the above descriptions. The animals will thank you!! :)

News

Adult Animals Need New Homes Too!! Our Shelter is filled with lovely adult cats and dogs who need forever homes. Puppies and kittens are cute, but they require a lot more attention, time and training than a more mature animal does. By adopting a young adult or older pet, you can avoid many of the domestic hassels related to housebreaking, teething or the 5am "crazy kitten syndrome". :) :) Kittens are also masters at showing off their climbing skills on your drapes. Adult cats' climbing skills are not nearly as impressive.

The Animal Shelter acquired a Mobile Animal Center (M.A.C) to help reduce pet overpopulation (by providing low cost spay and neuter services, provide disaster assistance and support mobile adoption events! Our kennels are open to the public five days a week:

Tuesday, Thursday & Friday - (Noon to 5:30 p.m.) Wednesday - (Noon to 7:00 p.m.) Saturday - (Noon to 5:00 p.m.) The Shelter is closed Mondays, Sundays and holidays.

To visit the Shelter, take the Airport Boulevard exit off Hwy. 101 and head west toward the airport. After crossing the railroad tracks, take the first left on to Regional Parkway. Following the signs, take the next left on to Century Court. We are located at the end of the street. Map to our shelter
