PETS OF THE MONTH

Dog of the Month

Dog of the Month at Taunton Animal Shelter in Massachusetts

MORK & MINDY, The April Dogs of The Month

MORK & MINDY are senior Chihuahuas, who came to the shelter because their owner passed away. They are both shy, with Mork being the most timid and the one who will take the most time, patience, love and understanding before he feels completely safe and secure. Being in the shelter with all bigger dogs and lots of noise and people, makes it harder for small dogs to adjust. They say that "good things come in small packages", and that could not be more true with Mork and Mindy. When you get a kiss from both of them and they snuggle in your arms, it is worth a million and makes you so happy ! One will need to come several times and spend time with both Mork and Mindy prior to adoption. They love each other very much and can always be found snuggled together in their bed - which is why we would like to be able to adopt them into the same home, if possible. We also recommend a quiet, adult home - with no toddlers, as toddlers would be too active for them.

Both Mork and Mindy enjoyed being with one of their favorite friends at the shelter and put on their special Easter bandanas - hoping they will soon be in a new home with someone who will love and treasure them for the rest of their "Golden Years". How they would love to wake up on Easter morning, to find a special Easter Basket filled with their favorite treats and a few toys to play with... But the thing they are most wishing for cannot be found wrapped in a basket - it is found inside your heart - and it is LOVE... Mork and Mindy may be tiny, but they both have LOTS of love to give in return.

HAPPY EASTER from MORK & MINDY and all their friends at the Taunton Shelter!

"Old dogs, like old shoes, are comfortable. They might be a bit out of shape and a little worn around the edges, but they fit well." (Bonni Wilcox)

Cat of the Month

BOOTS, The April Cat of The Month

My name is Boots, and I am a male DSH. My family moved and I could not go with them. The young boy who took care of me was very sad and so was I. I had been with him since I was a kitten. I am 4 years old and a very gentle soul. I am hoping that another child or children will want to bring me home and care for me every day. I would purr my happiness. Are you looking for me? I have a special adoption fee, please come soon.

"It is our gift to see beyond the dirt, terror, sadness and defeat and find the true soul that lies within. We are Rescue." (Kathie Sullivan-Parkes)
"Save them one at a time, love them all, mourn for those we cannot save, and thank doG that we have been given this special gift of love for all those creatures we hold dear to our hearts" (Terry Murphy)
"Rescue dogs aren't broken, they've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human, we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write, the ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Don't pity a rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness by your side."

Would you like to feel loved and appreciated? Are you unable to adopt a pet, but would like to spend time with them? Would you like to get some exercise in the great outdoors?
