OUR PETS OF THE MONTH: Brady Bunch and Cool Hand Luke

Our Super Friendly Black Lab Mixes Looking for Forever Homes

At 11 months old, these overgrown handsome teenage puppies are two of the nicest dogs you'll ever meet. Close to 70 lbs. each, they may even reach 75 lbs. when fully grown. Their mom was a sweet gorgeous curly haired black Labrador Retriever while their dad was a dashing long legged Shepherd Hound mix. They came to the big city several months ago but have never totally adjusted to the traffic and noise. For that reason we would love to place these boys with families who have big enclosed backyards. They would love to go together but can easily be separated provided they each have another dog to play with and keep them company. They are smart, friendly, playful and very good natured. Although they can be a little shy when first meeting people, they are never, ever aggressive. They love other dogs, across the board. Smooth haired Brady is the big sweet, innocent, goofy, gentle giant who doesn't have a mean bone in his body and curly haired Luke is the more confident of the two, bolder, wiser and more outwardly affectionate (Brady Eskimo kisses!). They love playing tug of war together with their rope toys and run laps together in the backyard, taking turns chasing each other. They live to retrieve toys and balls that their foster mom throws to them in the yard. At night, they'll curl up and sleep together (or with you if you let them) and they sleep through the night. They are 100% housebroken and just need someone to let them in the backyard. Although they were too scared to walk on the noisy streets when they first came to the city, they have since mustered up the courage to hike to the park where they just love to explore all the new sights and sounds. Like most dogs, they love nature and would probably do best in a more peaceful setting than NYC! And although they are never mea n, when strangers come to the door, they'll let out a big, strong, loud, protective bark and then wait for you to take over. They are simply delicious! Both boys are neutered, healthy and up to date on all their shots. If you're interested in adopting Brady Bunch or Cool Hand Luke, please call Beth at 347 242 0459.

WHO WE ARE

Founded in Sept. 2000 Stray from the Heart is a non-profit, volunteer-run dog rescue organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of homeless dogs. SFTH has grown into a network of volunteers who donate their time, expertise and housing space to help abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs find permanent, loving homes.

SFTH is also a member of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, a collaboration between animal care groups and the City of New York aimed at developing creative solutions to local animal care and control issues.

To date SFTH has helped rescue over 1,400 dogs, all without the benefit of either paid employees or a dedicated shelter facility. We rely solely on the generosity of its volunteers, supporters and contributors for its continued success.

We are different from other shelter and rescue organizations in that we have the uncanny ability to continuously successfully match up pets and people. As desperate as our little ones are for a home, we will always hold out for the right home.

If you have room in your life for a new best friend, call 212.726.DOGS and speak to an adoption counselor/matchmaker today. Thank you for giving our Strays the chance to experience joy, love and a life beyond their wildest dreams.

Saving one dog may not change the world, but for that one dog the world has changed!" --author unknown
