OUR DOG OF THE MONTH: Samson

Don't let this big guy fool you! Samson is a Mama's Boy at heart who would rather sit in your lap than do anything else in the world! Our trainer emphasized that Samson is "a really good boy" who focuses on his owner and shows a healthy curiosity towards the world. At 4 years old , Samson is so calm and well trained and would do well with just about anyone with a loving heart, good leadership skills and time to spend. This great looking 60 lbs American Staffordshire Terrier / (maybe some) Hound mix with his tall legs, golden coat and white crested chest, is as good natured as he is handsome. After having been abandoned by his owner through no fault of his own, Samson shows great sensitivity to human kindness. Show him affection and watch the sadness melt from his eyes as he places his head on your lap. Take him out for a stroll and you realize how respectfully he walks next to you. Give him a command and watch how connected Samson is and how much he wants to please. Our trainer says he is an absolutely wonderful dog! Samson is healthy, crate trained, neutered and up to date on all his shots. If you would like to know more about fostering or adopting sweet, stunning Samson, please call Beth at 347-242-0459.

WHO WE ARE

Founded in Sept. 2000 Stray from the Heart is a non-profit, volunteer-run dog rescue organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of homeless dogs. SFTH has grown into a network of volunteers who donate their time, expertise and housing space to help abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs find permanent, loving homes.

SFTH is also a member of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, a collaboration between animal care groups and the City of New York aimed at developing creative solutions to local animal care and control issues.

To date SFTH has helped rescue over 1,800 dogs, all without the benefit of either paid employees or a dedicated shelter facility. We rely solely on the generosity of its volunteers, supporters and contributors for its continued success.

We are different from other shelter and rescue organizations in that we have the uncanny ability to continuously successfully match up pets and people. As desperate as our little ones are for a home, we will always hold out for the right home.

If you have room in your life for a new best friend, call 212.726.DOGS and speak to an adoption counselor/matchmaker today. Thank you for giving our Strays the chance to experience joy, love and a life beyond their wildest dreams.

Saving one dog may not change the world, but for that one dog the world has changed!" --author unknown
