Being a Foster parent to a dog in need is the single most important part of rescue. Opening your home to a dog in need, saves that dogs life. Fostering is easy! We provide food and all medical for our dogs, and look to our fosters to open their homes and provide the daily basic care. Whether you have many years of dog experience, or are a new foster, we can use your help! We hold weekly adoption events, and showcase our adoptable dogs on 50+ websites on a regular basis so that our dogs have maximum exposure. Please open your heart and your home to a homeless animal. Providing a loving temporary home for a dog in need, is a wonderful experience, and is incredibly rewarding.
Stella's Hope is an all-breed, no-kill dog rescue. We rescue dogs in need from shelters throughout southern california. Stella's Hope is dedicated to reducing the number of adoptable pets that are euthanized in our shelters through rescue and adoptions, and the education of spaying/neutering.
Our adoption process begins with an adoption application, a home-check/meet & greet, and an adoption contract. Adoption Donation Fees range from $150-$450 (depending on age/breed of dog). All of our dogs are spayed/neutered if age appropriate , up to date on shots, and given their rabies vaccine before adoption.
We do not have a main location to visit our dogs, because our dogs are in foster homes spread out throughout Orange County. If there is a particular dog you are interested in, please visit our website to download an application: www.stellashope.org, and email us to facilitate a meet and greet.
For those of us who chose to spend our time rescuing homeless and abandoned pets, there is of course the obvious reason we support spay/neuter: pet overpopulation! (resulting in millions of pets being euthanized every year) Here are some shocking statistics:
+ Some 70,000 puppies and kittens are born every day in the U.S.
+ Between four million and six million pets are euthanized every year because they are homeless.
+ That means between 11,000 and 16,000 pets are euthanized every day simply because they are homeless.
+ An animal in a shelter is killed every 1.5 seconds.
+ Only one animal in 10 born in the U.S. gets a good home that lasts a lifetime.
These facts alone are reason enough to spay/neuter. Failure to do so, creates more animals being born, more homelessness, and more death. Why Should your pet be spayed or neutered? + Spaying and neutering helps dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives. + Spaying and neutering can eliminate or reduce the incidence of a number of health problems that can be very difficult or expensive to treat. Spaying eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer, particularly when your pet is spayed before her first estrous cycle. + Neutering eliminates testicular cancer and decreases the incidence of prostate disease.
