If you're not ready to adopt, perhaps you could lend your time and give your love to a foster pup. We are limited to the number of pups we can accept, by a short supply of foster homes. St. Croix Connection welcomes your application and looks forward to working with you through the adoption process. Decisions regarding placement are not based on a first-come, first-serve basis, but on which applicant will provide the most suitable home for a particular dog. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Prior to adoption, our four-legged friends stay with foster families to be evaluated, pampered and loved. Although all dogs leave St. Croix with a valid health certificate, we follow up with a visit to one of our veterinarians. We are blessed to have the generous support of South River Veterinary Services in Marshfield. Our commitment to these pups includes whatever additional medications and follow-up care needed to start them on their new lives.
The SCCPR Team consists of all volunteers. Everyone covers their own expenses for travel, parking garages and tolls. Every precious pup that arrives from St. Croix seems to realize that he or she has a second chance at life. Did you know that on the island of St. Croix, as many as two hundred little dogs are euthanized each month because there are not enough homes on the island? Meanwhile, stateside shelters have an endless waiting list of people looking to adopt small mixed breeds. Sadly, people grow impatient and end up paying hundreds of dollars for a purebred pup. Too often these purebred puppies come from puppy mills or backyard breeders. St. Croix Connection Puppy Rescue has formed a partnership with the Animal Welfare Center in St. Croix to save as many little lives as possible. Most of the pups are small mixed breeds including Chihuahua, Poodle, Dachshund, Spaniel and Terrier cross.
Our puppies/dogs are up to date on their vaccinations, and have been spayed/neutered .
