THANK YOU !!!!:
Thank you to all of the wonderful people who adopted FANTASTIC pets from Sanctuary Plus Rescue. Thank you to all of the GREAT volunteers who have helped us evaluate, train, care for, and place HUNDREDS of great pets.
Together, we have done AMAZINGLY good rescue work! We have adopted-out hundreds of rescued pets, including 93 so far this year!!
Adopt a Friend:
Dogs can be visited and adopted by appointment with their volunteer foster family. Saturday adoption events are unlikely to be planned in the near future.
Sanctuary Plus Rescue down-sized significantly this month (9/06), reducing its rescue, foster, and re-homing efforts. Unfortunately, one of our foster homes was the object of a too-many-pets and possible
neglect raid on 9/7/06. Rather than co-operatively working together with the foster home to obtain a permit and make desired changes, county and state officials chose to confiscate the pets. Some of the confiscated pets have been transferred to other rescues; and unfortunately some have been terminated despite being interactive and ambulatory. In SPR's opinion and the opinion of several other rescues, there were MUCH BETTER way to accomplish the desired changes.
Rescue Efforts:
Help save lives --- foster a pet. SPR mostly rescues pets in the Minneapolis metro area, but we occassionally rescue pets in other areas, including the Katrina disaster area.
Several organizations particularly helpful in the rescue, re-uniting, transport, and re-homing of Katrina animals include: Animal Ark,
Best Friends Animal Society , Triple R Rescue ... and our little group.
Please
provide a loving permanent home to one of our wonderful pets. We hope you
find a wonderful companion pet to ADOPT
at one of our adoption days, which are usually held each Saturday at a
Petco in the Twin Cities area. Come meet
our great foster pets and our hardworking volunteers!
An adoption day is a great way to meet several pets at a time, learn
more about a particular pet or breed ... and meet some of our wonderful
volunteers.
Start off on the right foot with your new pet...
Prior to adoption,
please consider.....
Adoption Considerations:
Adoption
Fees range from $125 and up
depending on the breed
and age of the dog. The adoption process includes the completion of an
adoption application, usually a home visit, an adoption contract and
adoption fee. All dogs are temperament tested, vet checked, vaccinated,
and spayed/neutered if 6 months or older.
To
pre-qualify for adoption
of a pet (or to visit a pet
one-on-one by appointment rather than open-house-style at an adoption
day), e-mail us with the responses to the questions in our Pre-adoption
questionaire, which is available on the lefthand-side of this page. We
do our best to provide a good match for you and a good match for your
pet. The questionaire helps ensure that a pet adoption is for the
lifetime of a pet. Our pre-adoption questions help us match you and
your home environment with the right puppy or dog. Our adoption fee
helps cover the medical and care costs we incur for rescued pets. NOTE:
Pets must meet each other. To ensure that your existing pet is
happy with your choice of a new pet, we require your new pet to meet
your existing pet prior to completion of an adoption. NOTE: A pet must be adopted in person
by its new owner. We will NOT ship an animal.
Please be patient
with us when inquiring and working thru the
adoption process. We are a small organization and our hardworking
volunteers are very busy -- not only with rescue activities, but their
families, jobs and other obligations. The application process usually
takes about a week ... and helps ensure you are matched with a great
pet and that the pet is matched with a great owner.
