In 2006 our shelter received a record number of animals, more than 8,000 dogs and cats. Our hours are from 10:00-5:00 Mon., Wed., Thurs., and Fri.; 10:00-3:00 on Tuesday; and 10:00-12:00 on Saturday.

Our Pet List Our shelter offers a wide array of dogs and cats, large and small, to accommodate most any environment. Puppies and kittens are always on hand, but due to the difficulty of placement, we favor adopting adult animals -- old timers who are socialized and sometimes already altered. Due to the overwhelming number of animals which we accept into our home, your support through your donations and adoptions will not only be appreciated by us, but also by the dogs and cats in which we shelter here at Southern Pines.
Adopting Your Pet
Adoption Fee:
$70.00 dogs and cats & $75.00 for puppies and kittens
The adoption fee includes your new pet already spayed or neutered, dewormed, heartworm or feline leukemia tested, and up-to-date with routine vaccinations (except rabies). All pets are also identified with an 24PetWatch microchip and 30 days of low cost pet insurance is available to the adopter for $1.00 to help with any vet bills you may incur after the animal is adopted.
Donations & Volunteers We always appreciate donations of food, blankets, towels, newspapers, toys, money or just your time. Canned dog and cat food is in short supply as well as puppy food. Volunteers can help walk and socialize the animals, we just ask that you call a day ahead to let us know. Volunteers must be over 16, and groups are welcome with advanced notice.
