WHO WE ARE We are a local "no-kill" rescue society serving Medicine Hat, Alberta and the surrounding areas as well. We work on the belief that ALL animals deserve a happy and healthy life. This is why we are strongly committed to all of the animals that come into our care. We specialize in older and sometimes physically challenged dogs that usually for no other reason, are deemed unadoptable, however we do not necessarily restrict our animals to this criteria. Because SOS does not have a public facility our four legged friends are placed in private foster homes of our volunteers until a permanent loving home is found. This means that at times we may not be able to accommodate everyone, so we always try our very best to help in other ways. We are a very small and dedicated organization funded by our adoption fees, donations, and various fund raisers. We operate solely by a committed, non-paid volunteer force.CONTACT US

For many of the animals that come into our care, it is their second, possibly third attempt in finding a permanent, loving and responsible home. PLEASE seriously consider everything involved with pet ownership before you adopt. This is supposed to be a lifetime commitment to the animal. This is why we have a strict criteria that has to be met before taking your new companion home. An application must be completed, then it will be reviewed. If found to be satisfactory a representative will then contact you. At that time you can make arrangements to visit the pet to see if this is a good match for everyone involved. References are checked, then a home visitation will take place to ensure it is appropriate for the pet. Please note that our policy is NOT first come, first serve! If we feel you are a good match, then you will be approved on that basis only! We will not adopt to those who are looking to buy a gift for someone, or for breeding purposes!ADOPTION FEES:
$150 for dogs. In some special cases these fees may be higher depending on certain situations. Fees are subject to change at any time. For those that feel this is a high price, you are probably not ready to commit to being a pet owner. Our fees are extremely reasonable, and one must take into consideration the veterinary care plus all other costs that go into our adoptable friends before they are placed. All dogs are fixed and have had any veterinary needs addressed before they are placed for adoption.YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!
We are always looking for: Foster homes, Groomers, Dog Walkers, Delivery drivers, Fundraiser volunteers (casinos, tradeshow displays, BBQ's, etc.), we even need people who just want to cuddle and love our dogs!DONATIONS
