Save Old Souls Senior K-9 Rescue (SOS)

Our Adoptable Pet List

Who We Are

Save Old Souls Senior K-9 Rescue Society (SOS), is a registered charity, serving Medicine Hat and the surrounding areas. We are a small, dedicated rescue organization and operate solely by a committed, non-paid volunteer force. Because SOS does not have a public facility, our dogs are placed in private foster homes where they become part of our family. This enables us to give our adopting families a great deal of information about a dogs personality, energy level, likes/dislikes and any existing health issues the dog may have. A full veterinary exam is done and all health issues are addressed when a dog comes in to our care, this includes spaying, neutering and all vaccinations. Our organization is dedicated to helping "at risk" dogs find new homes. Our mission is to find new homes for dogs that would most likely not be adoptable due to their age or without some attention to their special needs. Many of our dogs are over the age of 7, but we also take in dogs needing medical attention, or dogs that may have behavior or other problems that can affect their chances of being adopted. We specialize in older dogs and disabled dogs, but you'll find we often have healthy dogs in our care and middle aged dogs with many years of love left to give. Looking for a specific breed? Don't rule us out! We get many different breeds of all sizes that come into our care. So keep checking our website for the newest addition to your family!

Adopting

Our adoption process ensures that the right dog goes to the right person or family. There is an application form to complete. You will have a visit or two with the dog at the foster home. We check your references, talk to your vet (if you already have a pet), and if you are renting, we verify with the landlord that a pet is allowed. If everything checks out okay, then we schedule a home visit with you to make sure the yard is fenced and discuss any needs the dog may have. Once everything is finalized, there is a $150 adoption fee and the dog is yours! The dog you adopt will come with some toys, a blanket, and food. You'll need a collar, leash and valid dog license when you pick up the new addition to your family.

How you can help

If you're not ready to adopt, but still want to help out, please consider donating, becoming a foster home, or if you could spare some of your time, we can tell you more about our volunteer needs! We welcome you to join us at our monthly meetings where you can find out more about becoming a member. We would love to see you there! Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm at Alberta Auto Wreckers in Redcliff. On occasion, meetings are re-scheduled, so please call to confirm before attending.

Donations

Donations are always welcome! Your donations help offset the costs of medical care, food, and other necessities. Best of all you can donate online! You can sponsor one of our friends right here on Petfinder, or visit Canadahelps.org (keyword Save Old Souls). All donations over $10 will receive an official tax receipt.
