URGENT FOSTER CARE NEEDED FOR SPECIAL NEEDS DOG
Bandit was hit by a pickup truck on Monday the18 of Jan. on 41 A by the Oak Haven Motel. The driver of the truck didn't even stop, just drove off at a high rate of speed. The lady in the car behind him and several others stopped for the injured dog. They rushed him to North Clarksville Animal Clinic. Bandit is the name on the collar but there was no phone number or microchip. Bandit was in shock and in serious condition. The vet was able to stabilize him and kept him for several days. He has nerve damage to his front leg and neurological damage. He is blind in one eye and still has trouble standing up, but the vet's prognosis is that Bandit will come around, but will have to have his leg amputated and possible removal of his eye after he is stronger. He will be neutered at that time.
We need to find a foster home that will give him the love and time to heal. Please open your heart and home and help this poor little guy to feel safe and loved .
We also humbly ask that you open your wallet if possible and help us with his vet bill. Because of the recent emergencies we've had, our donation account is almost empty.
Pollyanna is a brown cockapoo who was taken to a shelter and dropped off with the following sentence " we are deploying"! She was so neglected you can't even see her sad brown eyes. She just turned a year old on 1-10-10 and has already been subjected to this kind of terrible experience. The last time she was taken to the vet her weight was 11.1 pounds. That was on 8-15-09. When we weighed her on 1-9-10, she still only weighed 11 pounds. We took her to our groomer "Ursula's Spa and she shaved her down almost to the skin, since she was so badly matted.
Carter the Maltese was found Jan 4 walking on the side of a busy street. He was horribly matted and looking for food a warm place to stay. After Ursula gave him a partial haircut, we took him to the vet and had him checked out. Cater is about 3+ yr. old and weighs as of 1-8-10, only 4 pound. He is just a skeleton with skin stretched over his bones! A healthy dog his age and size should weigh as least 7 pound.
DON'T get a pet if you won't or can't take the responsibility to care for it for at least 10 + years!
Dudley is a handsome, 74-pound, neutered Rottweiler mix who was abandoned in Woodlawn, where he was found sitting on the side of the road looking at the cars going by, apparently waiting patiently for the person who dropped him off to come back for him. Such is the loyalty of dogs, unlike many humans.
He was rescued and taken in by Inge Irby of Second Chance & Happy Tails, a SMALL dog rescue, who reports that Dudley is very sweet and loving and by all indications, is housetrained.
Here’s the problem: One: Dudley tested positive for heartworm and will be undergoing heartworm treatment, which will run at least $300 if not more. Two, Inge can only care for SMALL dogs in her home, so she is looking for a foster home to care for Dudley until his forever home can be found.
If you want to help Dudley, you can donate money towards his treatment either through the Second Chance Happy Tail Web site at: www.secondchancehappytails.petfinder.org Just click on the DONATE button on the top of the page to make a secure credit card donation through PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to do this. Or, make a donation directly to Animal House Veterinary Clinic, 410 Dover Road, Clarksville, TN 37042.
Or, open your heart and home to him on a temporary basis until he is adopted. Better yet, adopt him yourself! Just look at that FACE!
We are a no-kill organization. "I am the voice for the little dogs. They are all God's creations, and so long as the animal still has quality of life, that animal will have a home with me." - Inge Irby, Founder, Second Chance & Happy Tails

OUR MOST RECENT DOG RESCUE
"On Saturday the 13 of June 09 we got a call from the 911 Dispatch-Center about a dog needing rescue. The dog was found tied to a rock near the river on the bluff of Mayhew Rd. Sheriff and the Montgomery County Rescue Squad where on site to help the poor little dog who was obviously scared and in danger of drowning.
He got a ride back to the Montgomery County Rescue Station at "1 Providence Boulevard", where I picked him up. The dog was given the name " River" since this was where he was found. He is a very loving Little Boston Terrier Mix about 1 Yr. old
The following article is from the local paper under Crime Watch !!!
"An abandoned dog left on the river bluff on Mayhew Road was rescued by emergency workers Saturday evening.
According to a Montgomery County incident report, a couple who was fishing found a dog tied to a rock in the 100 block of Mayhew Road.
The couple untied the dog, which was too scared to leave.
Second Chance and Happy Tails picked the dog up after its rescue."

All the rescuers. What a happy dog!
Second Chance & Happy Tails is a non profit organization, relying on donations and fundraisers to maintain our much needed service. Most of the animals, including River, come to us either abused, abandoned and/or neglected. Many need extensive, long term care and cannot be adopted. Because we are a no kill shelter, we keep any animal that we are unable to adopt to a good home.
We are currently housing over 40 dogs and puppies, all of whom need regular medical care, grooming and of course daily care. (feeding, laundry, bathing etc) The vet bills alone can reach in the 10's of thousands of dollars every year. We simply can't do it alone. Will you help us?
