FOSTER HOMES
FOSTER A KITTIE---
We have foster opportunities for cat lovers with extra energy and time! We are a "shelterless" shelter! This means that we rely 100% on foster homes. If you have a quiet room in your home and a soft spot in your heart (that you can keep free from your own pets) and would like to be a foster parent for another furry friend or two, please fill out the questionnaire below and we will contact you via email. You provide the love and attention! We do require home visits and weekly visitations for our foster home families. We provide all vet care and medication. We provide litter and food and all related necessities. We do ask that you donate food and litter once a month to the foster cats in your care if at all possible.
Foster Application
This application must be completed in full or it may be returned or denied.
Over five million dogs and cats are put to death every year because they cannot find homes. You can help prevent these needless deaths by spaying and neutering your pets and by encouraging friends and family to do the same. You can also help by finding room in your hearts and homes for a homeless animal. Please adopt, or CONSIDER FOSTERING, a homeless cat or kitten.
ADOPTING PROCESS
NOTE: We have a no declaw policy for all our cats and kittens. Declawing is extremely painful, healing requires several weeks to months and in many cases a cat's feet will remain sore for life. Cats need their claws for daily grooming and exercise of muscles by stretching and scratching. Claws help a cat jump and retain their balance. Trimming a kitten's claws is simple. We trim our cats claws on a regular basis and they soon learn to accept this as routine. When there are available scratching posts and your kitten is shown to use it, instead of the furniture, he will be trained to scratch the posts sparing your furniture. You should have several of these around the house near chairs or couches. You may also use aluminum foil wrapped around the corners of couches or chairs until your kitten is trained. Two sided tape is also useful as a deterrent. You can use a spray bottle filled with water to assist in training. When your cat does something undesirable such as jumping on dining tables or scratching the sofa you can use the spray bottle to spray water on your cat. This is a great training tool. This will prevent your kitten from associating your hand to pain and create a much better relationship between you and your pet.
Please visit www.softpaws.com, www.stickypaws.com, www.declawing.com or www.cfainc.org for more information on declawing.
Please take a few moments to read the following explanation of our adoption policies and the steps that make up the process. You may be surprised to find that adopting an animal is a more involved process than you expected, or that it means you can't have immediate access to an animal in which you are interested.
Because we are concerned with finding the most appropriate home for our cats, our Adoption Counselors conduct extensive interviews as part of our adoption process.
Everything we do is for the best interest of the animals in our care, and is aimed at giving them the best possible chance of finding a permanent home.
Here are the steps you'll go through in the adoption process:
Before you can visit with any animal you've seen online on our website, we will ask you to complete some paperwork .
Pre Adoption Questionnaire
This paperwork should be completed first -before we meet with any cat/kitten.
Our process includes asking questions, requesting to see proof of identity and residence, checking veterinary and personal references, particularly when you have other animals at home. This is to protect the health of our animals and the pets you already have. We do require a home visit before the cat/kitten can come home with you.
Once all the paperwork has been completed and approved, we will meet with you at your home or at a foster home with the animal(s) in which you are interested. You will have a counseling session with a member of our staff.
You will be asked to sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption donation fee which may provide spay / neuter surgery, FELV/FIV blood testing, rabies vaccination, first boosters series vaccinations, flea and earmite medication if needed, deworming if needed with Strongid and a veterinary checked cat/kitten. In the case of multiple applications for the same animal, Sapphire Cats personnel reserves the right to select the BEST HOME FOR THE KITTIE!, not necessarily the first person who inquired about the cat/kitten.
Please try to bear with us and be patient. It is a good idea to have all adopted pets visit a veterinarian within 4 weeks of adoption for a general checkup.
Adoption Contract
If you would like to see the adoption contract you will be required to complete and sign-feel free to review prior to meeting the cat(s) of your choice.
If you decide to use the Trial Period offer to decide if your new kitty is a purr-fect fit for you, please view the Trial Period Adoption Agreement.

WHO WE ARE
A 501(c) 3 non-profit rescue group. No-Kill home for kitties only...We are very small..We are kitty loving, compassionate, hardworking cat lovers, who work full-time and spend every other minute dedicated to finding more than just suitable homes for homeless, abused, abandoned and unwanted cats. We do not have a facility, we operate out of loving foster homes, but we are a no-kill rescue shelter. We all love kitties and are trying to find the best homes possible for these kitties that we have worked very hard with to socialize them and gain their trust. We pay for everything for kitties, provide a clean, safe and fun
environment for kitties to call home. We coordinate and fund all medical needs of our kitties. We always give, care and love all of our foster kitties with all of our hearts. We do have many, many references of wonderful people who have adopted kitties from us.
ADOPTING A FRIEND
Please note the name of the kitties you are interested in adopting in the subject of your email.
We are looking for long-term homes. We have an unconditional return policy and trial periods for new kitties you want to make sure are a good match for your home. Because we are a small group we get to know our cats very well and can tell you about personalities, likes and dislikes. We also have a variety of semi-feral and feral cats that would like to live in your garage, shed or barn. Great mousers, they also need your commitment to a lifetime of care and food. Please ask about our "Sapphire Mousers".
Adoption contract required. Positive picture identification and current proof of residence required. Examples are state id or drivers license and copy of a utility bill with your current address listed with your name on it. If you would like to adopt a kitty and take your kitty home the same day with you, please be sure to bring the required documentation. All kitties are already altered or will be altered as part of the adoption process.
All "of age"male felines in our foster care homes are already tutored (neutered)!!
Also, have all your kitty gear purchased for your new family member if you want to take in the kitty the same day you meet him/her. Ask us to email you a list of what you should have for your new kitty.

These adult kitties eat Nutro brand cat food. We also love the new natural holistic and no by-product brands coming out... Kittens (human babies eat baby food-right?) must eat KITTEN food until at least 10 months of age!
We reserve the right to a pre-home inspection and post-adoption home inspections.
Please don't forget they need toys, toys, toys (pretend mice and little balls that make noises or interactive feather sticks) and a scratching post at least 3 feet high or at a minimum a Turbo Scratcher! Kittens learn to use their scratching post at 3-4 weeks of age so make sure you have one waiting!
ADOPTING FEES
Fees range approximately between $63.00 and $121.00 and are used for our overall cost of rescue, which often is far in excess of this amount. The males are a little less of a minimum donation because their alter fees are less expensive. Keep in mind your donation covers only the medical fees incurred to prepare them for you...Anything over these amounts helps us help other cats. Minimum donations for kitten pairs is $150.00. Adoption fee will be accepted by cash, check or money order only. 100% of your monetary donations go straight to the cats. We do not buy anything else with the "cat's money", only if it is directly related to their care. We are not funded by anyone but ourselves and our caring kitty lovers. You can send a donation in the form of a gift card from Sams/Walmart, PetSmart, or mail a check to Sapphire Cats Inc, PO BOX 8203 , Scottsdale, AZ 85252

SENIORS KITTY PROGRAM!
Partnering Animals with Loving Seniors -------
People age 65 and older can adopt a kitty age 2 or older from our foster care home for a donation of $50.00. The Senior must sign all required adopter paperwork and actually be the new owner of the kitty and be the one providing the kitty with the actual residence. There will be homechecks for these types of adoptions as well and positive picture id and residence verification. This is an effort to match up loving seniors with pets of their own and help them make it affordable.

EMAIL FOR A VISIT WITH OUR KITTIES!
We are a network of foster homes and we have no "regular" business hours. Meeting a kitty that we have for adoption are done by appointment only.
With foster homes in
Scottsdale - Mesa - Gilbert - Phoenix - Tempe - Glendale and now in Laveen!
Please note, we are a foster-home based rescue, not a shelter.
Please email us to make arrangements to meet kitty(s) you are interested in. We usually email back in 24 hours but there are times when it could take up to 72 hours to respond.
The fastest way to make an appointment is via email at Sapphire Cats Inc
You may also leave a message on our call phone but you still have to fill out the online pre-adoption questionnaire prior to meeting the kitty. This ensures the kitty is a good match for you and we don't put the kitties under stress if the home isn't a good match to begin with.
