Donation Information

S.A.F.E. Sanctuary has been an active group since March of 2004, we are a 501C3 Non Profit Rescue, all donations are tax-deductible. S.A.F.E. has placed over 3.000 loving dogs and cats in quality homes since we started rescuing. There are huge expenses that go with this, we have had many dogs that had to be treated for heartworm, required surgery to live a better life, or had various other ailments. Our medical bills, along with the ever-increasing costs of dog food, collars and leashes adds up to an enormous amount of expenses.

S.A.F.E Sanctuary does not receive funding, all of the costs have to be paid for out of the adoption fees, donations or our own pockets. We have had many people say that they would like to help but due to time and room they can't, yes you can, every donation helps!!! Even if you can't volunteer or adopt at this time, please feel free to make a donation to any of these wonderful animals.

Donations can be made using the PayPal button above or they can be mailed directly to S.A.F.E. Sanctuary, 309 N.W. 11th St. Faribault, MN 55021 THIS IS ONLY A MAILING ADDRESS! Thank you very much!!!

Donations can also be made through GiveMN.org

Who We Are

S.A.F.E. Sanctuary is a group of local people who have banded together to Save Animals From Euthanasia. We are a small group and intend on staying that way, our goal is to use our resources on training the dogs, so when adopting a dog from S.A.F.E. you will know that the training has been started and they will adjust easier to a new home.

S.A.F.E. Sanctuary is a foster based rescue so we can only take in animals as room is available. We are a no kill rescue, we work on training issues and do everything possible to find quality homes for the dogs, we will not, however, place a dangerous dog back out into the public.

The S.A.F.E. dogs are not kept in kennels, they are all fostered in our homes and live with our own personal pets and families. All pets are vetted, altered, they are house trained or have started their training, they are socialized, started on obedience training and have begun the spoiling aspect of family life!!

Many of our animals come from local impound facilities where they would have been euthanized if we had not rescued them. This is their chance at a new home, they are great dogs whose only flaw was their color, size, location or lack of training.

S.A.F.E. does its best to assure all animals are healthy prior to going to their new homes. However, there is no guarantee when adopting an animal, there are things that veterinarians miss. We recommend re-worming along with an exam by your regular vet within 5 days of the adoption. Medical needs may come up at the new owner's expense, it is part of being a pet parent. Many of these dogs came from very poor situations, their lives depend on us and their new owners.

S.A.F.E. Sanctuary spays or neuters all animals before adoption, they are also vaccinated for Parvo/Distemper, wormed and heartworm tested.

Adopting a friend

To adopt fill out an application at www.safesanctuary.org and submit it. Then send us an e-mail or give us a call. We will set up a time for you to come and meet the friend you are interested in. (We do ask for references and you must have landlord approval). If we feel it is a good match we will complete the adoption.

All pets adopted from S.A.F.E. Sanctuary come with a offer of a free veterinary check with one of 6 participating veterinary clinics, located in Faribault, Northfield, Kenyon and Owatonna. Vet visits must be scheduled within 3 days of adopting. This is for the office visit only, any added vet work will be done at the new families expense. We want you to be confident of the health of your new pet. Information will be provided during the adoption process.

WE DO HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY ADOPTION, as we live with these animals and know their needs better than anyone else at this time.

Adoption fees vary per animal, we do not negotiate fees, they barely cover the vetting costs. Our goal is a forever home for each animal in our program.

Surrendering a pet

S.A.F.E. Sanctuary does take in owner surrender dogs. Please remember we are a small group and do not always have foster space available. For information on surrendering a dog please call 507-334-7901.

We will not take in dogs that have shown any aggression towards humans or other dogs. Since the dogs live in a foster home we can not risk injury to our foster parents or the other dogs in the foster home.

Unfortunately, we do not take in owner turn in cats or kittens, we only help out kittens who are on impound, when we can. We recommend advertising your cats and try to find homes for them on your own. You can also check with local farmers on outside cats, they may have room.

Come Visit Us!

Since we are foster based all visits are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY or during our Adoption Events, most Events are held at the Faribo West Mall in Faribault, MN however we do have them in various locations so watch the websites for location, dates, and time postings.

Special thank you to the Faribo West Mall, Paddington's Feed and Seed, Faribault Vet clinic, all of our wonderful volunteers, and the community for helping us save lives!!

A thank you to our dedicated members who offer their spare time to help homeless animals.
