SAFE's main focus is the TNR of feral cats and assisting limited income families with the spaying, neutering and basic veterinary care of their animals. In the future we may offer a limited intake, no kill adoption program if foster homes become available. If you are interested in adopting an animal please check out the Jackson County Humane Society .
Who We Are
Established in 2007, SAFE seeks to reduce pet overpopulation and to improve the welfare of animals in the greater Dubuque County area. Specifically, we strongly advocate that all animals are spayed and neutered, regardless of breed, sex or age. By spaying/neutering we are reducing the number of cats and dogs born into situations of inadequate care and abuse. We are also limiting the numbers of unwanted animals relinquished to animal shelters, where they are often euthanized for lack of space. The program supports the spaying and neutering, vaccination and basic veterinary treatment of cats and dogs. Its aims include education on the care of animals through proper feeding, shelter, veterinary care and the importance of spaying and neutering in population control. The program also offers medical and surgical services to needy animals, typically cats.
Our 501c3 status is pending.
