JOEY
Joey is a 9-12 mo old Labbie/Hound mix, weighing 30 lbs. He loves to give kisses and loves to be hugged, rides very well in the car and is housetrained too!! He is current on all shots, has been wormed, received his rabies shot and was tested for heartworm/lyme disease and he was negative.. He is very gentle, sweet and loving. Adoption Fee $200 which includes his neuter, shots and worming.

We are looking for foster homes! We will provide food and any medical care needed. Please call Laura 304 886-3179 or Nancy 304 433-6689 to discuss fostering one of our rescued pups or dogs. Safe Haven Dog Rescue is located in Berkeley Springs, WV. The rescued dogs live in a family environment, interacting with other dogs on a daily basis, so we are able to observe the temperment, personality, likes and dislikes of each dog that is available for adoption.
Who We Are
Safe Haven Dog Rescue is an all breed dog rescue that will show dogs available for adoption by appointment only, as the rescue does not have a facility. The rescue is located off of I-81, Exit 16W, 1/2 hr south of Hagerstown, MD or 1/2 hr north of Winchester, VA. Safe Haven Dog Rescue takes in neglected, abandoned and "just because they don't want me anymore" dogs and pups and is a no -kill rescue. All rescued dogs are neutered or spayed, current on all shots, tested for lyme and heartworm disease and will have a current 1 year rabies certificate and tag, if age appropriate, such as in the case of a young pup, that is not eligible for a rabies shot until it is 5-7 mos old. An adopted dog is wormed and groomed before going to his/her new home.. They all have had some training. An Adoption Application needs to be completed before an appt can be made to meet the dog you are interested in and once approved, a Contract will need to be completed before adoption.

Completion of an adoption application, adoption contract and references are required. We DO adopt to out of state applicants, with a home check done by a local rescue in your area. Adopting a dog is a lifetime commitment and a big responsibility. Please think about whether your current lifestyle will accomodate a pet before contacting the rescue. We are not a "cash and carry" rescue nor are we "first come - first serve". Our mission is to find the "best" forever home for each dog that we rescue, based on their needs, personality, temperment, a fenced yard or not, good with other dogs, cats or children or not. As our dogs live in a home environment we have the ability to observe each dog on a day to day basis, and feel that we are able to determine the best "fit" (home) for each dog. If we have multiple applications, a decision as to which family will adopt the dog, will be based on the dog's needs, determined by Safe Haven Dog Rescue.
