ockingham County has a new animal shelter! The Rockingham County Animal Shelter held its Grand Opening on May 21, 2011. This shelter exists to help our community but it will only be successful if the community will help the shelter.

Fees and Services as of 5/14/2011
Adoption:
Dogs $110.00 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, DA2PPV vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, deworming, and a heartworm test for dogs over 6 months)
Cats: $90.00 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccination, FVRCP vaccination, deworming, and FELV/FIV testing)
Other fees/services:
Pet redemption: $25.00
Bite quarantine: $16.00
Boarding fees: dogs $12.00 daily cats $10.00 daily (animals under quarantine or waiting for redemption)
Rabies vaccine: $10.00
Microchip: $12.00
Euthanasia request: $15.00

RCAS serves Rockingham County, North Carolina. The facility includes a large kennel area for dogs, modern facilities for cats, a spay and neuter clinic, an adoption wing, and a bonding area. There is also a quarantine area to help reduce the spread of illness.

Adoption hours are 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. Starting in November the shelter will be open on Saturdays from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.
