The Humane Society of
Northeast Florida
a private non-profit charitable organization dedicated
to:
- Establishing & operating shelter facilities to ensure comfort
& assistance to all pets in need in Northeast Florida area.
- To adopt companion animals into homes for life.
- To advance responsible programs to reunite lost pets with their owners.
- To encourage and strengthen the human/animal bond with programs
& services that focus on the needs of both people and animals.
- To create lasting and comprehensive change in human behavior toward animals
through education about responsible pet ownership, including the spaying
& neutering of pets, and about humane & respectful treatment of all animals.
|
In
addition to caring for animals in need, the primary goal of the Humane Society of Northeast Florida is to educate the public & to promote the
spaying and neutering of companion animals at an early age. This
routine procedure prevents the birth of unwanted litters, thus helping
to reduce the euthanasia of healthy animals.
Medical care and appropriate shots are provided for all animals put up for adoption, including rabies shots and Putnam County tags.

The shelter maintains "lost and found" files for animals reported to
us.
We offer microchip identification with all adoptions. This service is available to all pet owners. The shelter maintains the micro-chip database for Putnam County.
Educational programs are provided to schools regarding the proper care of pets.
Our volunteers also provide pet visits to nursing homes and retirement homes.
