Reaching out to those in need!
We are a small group of independent animal rescuers that help mainly with abandoned and forgotten cats, kittens, dogs and puppies. (Mostly out of the Detroit area, that are in need of medical care and love.) We meet all basic veterinary care prior to adoptions. We are NOT a bully breed restricted rescue, we mainly work with and rescue bullies on a daily basis!
We believe no rescue should be competitive, so if you do not find your dream family member here please email us so we can help you find him or her!
Please educate yourself on Michigan dog fighting laws and legislations! Public awareness is the first step to changing the world our state bullies live in everyday! Please be a part in becoming aware of your surroundings and helping a bully in need. We have included a link with Michigan laws please check it out and read it! Knowledge is key in saving Michigan bullies.

To adopt one of our foster kids we ask all interested parties to please fill out an application on the animal of their interest prior to meeting a new hopeful! Please email polar_rescue@yahoo.com to request an application or email/call the individual foster Mom/Dad of the animal(s) you are interested in. (Email addresses and phone numbers are located on all foster kids Petfinder pages under info)
We cannot guarantee any behavior of ANY animals in P.O.L.A.R., although we do our very best to individually evaluate each animal on a case-by-case basis, we can never guarantee the outcome after they have left foster care. Please feel comforted that we here at P.O.L.A.R. would not adopt out a deemed “aggressive” or “socially unacceptable” animal(s) that we feel is unsafe to adopt out to the public, unless adressed as "Barn Needed" animal(s) (cats) with special needs.
PLEASE NOTE:
We will never ask for more than an animal veterinary procedures cost. If anything we ask for less! We are more interested in an animal’s well being and finding loving forever homes. Our adoption prices vary per animal based upon vet care given. Most cats and kittens are $75-$150 and most dogs and pups are $150-$250, all depending on vet care given.
Here at P.O.L.A.R. we are always accepting donations of these sorts:
Any kitty litter
Litter Boxes
Cat/Kitty food
Dog/Puppy food
Any kind of gently used animal bedding; Towels, blankets, etc.
Any money donations can be sent to:
PO BOX 2655
Garden City, MI 48136
Please note P.O.L.A.R. on the bottom of all checks/Money orders, so your generous donations can be properly placed on our veterinary care account, to help any animals that may come into P.O.L.A.R.
