REGRETFULLY, PALS CANNOT RESCUE DOGS FROM PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS.

Our Featured Pets...

BELLA'S STORY was turned in to the Humane Society after destroying the nerves in one shoulder when she jumped from the back of a pick-up truck - yes, her owner apparently just put her up there and drove. And she was pregnant. She was brought into the shelter AFTER she had her puppies.

The Humane Society vet staff gave her great care and decided that the best and only long-term solution was to amputate her right leg.

She recovered wonderfully and gets around great. Bella is very social, wonderfully loving and is eager for her treats - that great combination means she's eager to learn almost anything.

Bella was in a wonderful foster home immediately after surgery (no steps) , then went to her long-term foster home - AND has been adopted.

Bella's just one great example of the work that the Humane Society and local rescue groups do together!

GRACIE'S STORY

Gracie came into the local shelter with two broken hips - 10 months-old and the sweetest dog you could imagine. Sure, she limped, but you'd never know she had anything wrong. Because of her injuries, there was a lot of discussion about her future quality of life and adoptability. That's where PALs comes in. We put Gracie into one of our great foster homes and used some of the donations we've received to pay for half of Gracie's FHO (hip) surgery. The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County paid for the other half of the surgery from their Vet Fund.

After 3 months of fostering and recovery, Gracie found a wonderful new forever home. She's the sister to a 3 yr-old black lab and it's great fun to watch them run and play together. Gracie still has the other hip surgery ahead of her and some more recovery, but her future is very bright, thanks to all of you who send PALs your donations. We will always use your donations for the betterment of wonderful and deserving dogs. Thank you!!! Oh - by the way, Gracie's new name is HANNAH!!

We work closely with the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County, so please check out their website - thehumanesociety.org - and their site on petfinder.com. The shelter gets many wonderful dogs every day who are just looking for their forever home.

Who We Are

Protect Adoptable Labs, is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3), non-profit organization whose mission is to rescue "at risk" labs and lab mixes from shelters, place them in foster homes and then find them their new forever homes.

Labs are the most popular dog in America -- and the most often euthanized! Many are at risk and need help from all of us.

We need foster homes in the Seattle-Tacoma, WA area. Can you help?

Regretfully, at this time, we are only able to rescue dogs from shelters and not from individuals.

All our rescued dogs are evaluated medically and behaviorally and then placed with loving foster families until adopted. We also feature dogs on our site whom we know well and work with at the shelter but who have to stay there longer because we don't have enough foster homes. One of PALs’ goals is to work toward creating a small shelter of our own, which can allow for focused care of all-breed rescued dogs with special needs. All of our dogs will be medically treated, micro-chipped, exercised, trained and spayed/neutered as they await adoption.

We are just a small part of the rescue work that goes on every day all over the country. Please support your local rescue in any way you can, whether it's with money, foster care, or with your time. Your help can save a lovable dog's life.

Donations to PALs are tax deductible under IRS regulations. Our IRS info is: EIN 03-0580600 UBI 602 580 439. Donations can be made by check or Paypal via our website. Thank you.
